Hi there,
I have a brief question about the Sensitive Issues thread.
When I registered I entered my correct birthdate -- I am sixteen years old -- and have since realized that that birthdate does not permit my reading the Sensitive Issues forum. I respect the intention to withhold inappropriate information from minors, but wanted to discuss why the forum is age-locked.
I can see from some of the thread titles that, among other things, menstrual cycles are being discussed as avidly as usual :). My question is, are menstrual cycles, menstrual products, birth control and so on really topics for which one must be a certain age to read?
I've always enjoyed the candid and informative "safe spaces" of women's discussions and was disappointed to be blocked from the board.
Thanks very much!
Saoirse

I've been having the same question, as the LHC Cuppers thread is open to all, and I've posted there.
Thanks for asking the question!

It is a liability issue, I believe.
A number of years ago LHC had a Sensitive Issues board which talked about Waaaaaaay more than mentrual products. I think that is more what Steph is thinking will be in the SI board (not just period products) - so she has to protect herself from liability of minors accesssing such topics.

I assumed that would be it. I remember the thread about the SI board being shut down on LHC.
Oh, well. Only 6 more months, or so.

I just want to say thanks to Stephanie for making the SI board, because I'm sure it will become rather useful in the future.
And as a suggestion (hope nobody minds and by all means correct me if I'm wrong =p), menstruation threads aren't something that younger members shouldn't have access to but they do seem to fall into the SI category. However, if you are a younger member and have an issue or a question to ask I don't think anybody would mind you posting in..*looks* uhm...coffee shop maybe?

Well I just clicked on that forum board and it told me that I wasn't old enough to go in, I thought I was done with the whole your not old enough thing now that I have graduated. Still don't really like it, but I can see why we need it.
Oh well only 2 more months anyway.:calm:

...menstruation threads aren't something that younger members shouldn't have access to but they do seem to fall into the SI category. That depends on who you ask. Heck, I know 'adult' women who would faint at reading the proper names for body parts, and certainly don't want their children reading about them either. I am not saying that I agree, just that such people do exist.
Cheers,

Wouldn´t it be possible to divide the SI forum into two subforums - say, menstrual issues and uber-sensitive issues? So that the younger members can have access to the cup talk but not the - hehe, I´m not telling... :lafhard:

I was actually going to say that in my post...and then I got to thinking about people mixing them up and extra work for mods trying to prevent people from posting non menstrual topics in the menstrual board. Still could be a good idea though :)

I thought the Sensitive Issues thread was going to be about people talking about problems they're having, but obviously not lol....:grim:
