PMS - LHC= :stress:
So far I've lopped off 2-3 inches from my hair. Now I'm trying to resist the urge to bleach it. It's so much harder to have patience with my hair without LHC. I'm hoping my hair survives until it's back up.

NOOOOO!!!!! DONT KILL YOUR HAIR!!!!!!! though i know what you mean about not having patience without LHC... i was standing in front of a mirror with a pair of scissors thinking of trimming my hair this morning... thankfully i decided against it. dont give in to the urges... think of every inch as 2 months of waiting.

I had a trim yesterday which in a way is good because it was the lunar day for thickening. I was a good girl though and didn't so an impulsive cut:innocent: . I had then take 1/2 inch off the bottom and 1/4 inch off of the rest of the layers. The tangles were getting horrible. Do not bleach your hair!! Think of how it will feel like straw afterward and possible breakage:whoa: .I ready LHC will be up Sunday. I miss it to , but I am staying strong and not getting a major cut. at least we have the BB. imagine if we didn't..yikes:petrified:

Stay away from the bleach and keep talking to us here. You really don't want to bleach it. You're just frustrated. I actually said OUT LOUD yesterday (and bella heard me) that I'd love to chop off my old red hair. I've never said that OUT LOUD before, so I feel your pain. Hugs.

You have been on LHC quite a while and you don't know what the two week rule is? *bes amazed*
Two weeks of doing nothing instead of deciding to do something on a whim. Minds change over time.

And don't cut or bleach!! Lean back, take deep breaths and tell yourself "Long Healthy Hair" over and over :)

I got a bit impulsive as well the other day.. *sigh* I got so mad at my ends that I just started started cutting until my ends were even and felt a bit thicker.. not really a bit deal - but I regretted it afterwards..
I was 1 cm from TB before -- 38" and now I have 1½ INCH to go.. :whyme: boy, inches sound sooo long.. it's going to take forever..
-- So - second the two week rule!! - then, at least I can help others stick to it.. :parp:

Isn't part of the rule though that it's fine to go ahead if you still want to do it after two weeks ? I've wanted to get my hair blonde for much longer than two weeks! I wish I could just put the idea out of my head and forget it. I'll get over it for awhile but then I get the urge again. I think my self esteem is overly dependent on my hair. Like if I'm feeling depressed or ugly I get fixated on the idea that if I just dye my hair I'll look so much better and I'll be happy. :purplex: Seriously, how pathetic is that? But I've been reading through the many bleaching horror stories on the Hair Boutique forum and that's been helping me fight off the urge a little, lol.
Still can't wait to get LHC back! :whoohoo:

OMG me too!!!! I have dug out my flat iron and so far have flat ironed my hair TWICE since LHC has been down. :( I think mostly I have a lot of extra time on my hands. :lafhard: And my hair was angering me and instead of being able to remind myself about why I'm growing my hair out by browsing LHC, I decided to straighten my hair!!! And am considering chopping like 2 inches off in the next couple of days. yikes!
We need LHC back! At least we have this board, but it's not the same. :(

have you bleached your hair blond before? i was a blond for a little while and had to cut off all the blond when when i grew it out... you cant just bleach blond your hair once you have to keep doing it or cut out the blonde... and if you keep doing it you end up with horrible hair that you wont be able to keep long because it will break off.:ginger:

I know what you're saying about the PMS. I went through a period (no pun intended!) in my early twenties where I used to get the urge to bleach my hair each month. It would always turn out horrible, so I would then put another permanent colour over the top immediately. Then the next month, I would get the urge to bleach that colour out... and it would turn out horrible, and I would put another dye over the top etc. etc. You can imagine what state my hair was in. In fact the cycle only stopped when most of my hair broke off to a couple of inches long, and the back had to be buzzed completely. Ye have been warned ;)
I still dye my hair, but adding colour is not as damaging as taking it away... how about a nice temporary wash-out hair dye to satisfy your need to experiment without any lasting damage? It would probably be washed out by the time LHC is back up ;)

I've got dark blonde to golden blonde hair and so it doesn't even need much bleach to go lighter and STILL my hair simply was shredded. This was back when I was keeping it pixie-short and it was a good think that I was, too. My hair hated me for that abuse and it took a very long time to start growing decently again after scorching it with bleach and colour.
Please, for your hair's sake, do NOT bleach it!

Don't bleach!
It takes too long to recover from it afterwards and natural colour looks way better than bleached hair.
There are also many other long hair sites out there. Not quite LHC, but they have pictures which can inspire. :geek:

I have an idea, those of you who just want SO badly to do something like chop or bleach or even iron, let's make an agreement not to do ANYTHING while LHC is down! Sort of like you don't make any major life decisions during stressful times. Get it? Seriously, all of this stuff are things you'll get over probably once LHC support is back up and there'll be a lot of sorry people of you DON'T wait. You cannot turn back the clock and be "undamaged" or "longer again"!!!

Everyone who is having thoughts of cutting or bleaching or whatever needs to calm down, take a deep breath and have some chocolate or some cheese, or both. Think about if cutting or bleaching would help you hair. I bet not! So don't think about doing it. JUST DON'T DO IT! Yes it's frustrating not to be able to visit our "home" on line but it's not a reason to ruin your hair and cause yourself months or years of frustration and agony in growing out your mistakes. There are plenty of hair things you can do until LHC comes back up. Do a nice SMT or other deep treatment of choice. Shop! A little retail therapy is always good. Buy some hair sticks!

yep I've bleached before, I've always done it myself without really understanding how to do it correctly. So the results were always uneven and brassy, which I then had to redye mutliple times to get to a normal looking color. The continual redyeing and rebleaching is definately death to hair. Amazingly, I've never gotten breakage or splits from dyeing, but it definately dries mine out and makes it look like crap.

I've discovered that temp dyes don't ever fully wash out of my hair. :purplex: But I am still using them on my roots right now because it is a much better choice than permanent.

Here's an idea - Instead of cutting or bleaching (or dyeing) on impulse, use the time to practice new updos (or even old ones that need practicing. :eureka:

That's what I'm doing. I got really excited yesterday when I found this site:
http://www.geocities.com/thespookstress/frenchtwistlonger.html
I was feeling like I couldn't do any quick-but-still-pretty updos with my length, but these work great for me! And they will be good for showing off the numerous hair toys I just bought from Quecraft:

(Still occasionally browsing the Goldwell Colorance online store, but I'm only looking and not touching. :innocent: )
