View Full Version : OPI polish

I decided to go through my polishes and let go of some of the ones I don't wear. Some have never been worn others have been used a few times. So far I haven't seen any of the ones I am getting rid of that show use but I am sure I will come across some as I finish going through them. If I can see that they are a little low I will tag them as such. I don't have a digital camera so to look at the colors go to www.opi.com (http://www.opi.com/). The list may grow in the future but these are the ones I am willing to part with right now.

Suzie 3 polishes come to about $4 for shipping. If you want more than that I would have to know how many and I could go weigh them.
I would need you to PM me your zip code.

All you have to do is google the name of the polish, put OPI after it and usually someone on ebay is selling that shade. That's how I looked at them.
BBGrrl
July 28th, 2007, 09:30 AM
justgreen I am glad you got them. You got them the day I was planning on telling you I sent them out .
Garnet I don't know what those two colors look like so I don't know if I have anything like them. I am constantly adding more so keep an eye out.
Suzie your polishes were sent out on Wednesday. I hope you like the surprise color.

Justy what a great idea. Thank you :)
BBGirl - As far as you can tell, are Black Satin and Black Onyx the same? Or is Satin a bit more shimmery or frosty?

Garnet~ If remember correctly Black Onyx is a shinny black. Black satin is a dark gray with blue glitter in it.
Secondly I have to say I find it rude that you are asking for polishes that are not on the list. If you wait they might show up. I have at least 3 of the ones that you mentioned but that does not mean I am giving them up. This is coming out of my personal stash and I am not willing to give them to you to have to go re buy them, especially since you get the same discount I do.
Garnett
July 29th, 2007, 06:48 PM
woah.. I am sorry if I came across as rude. I was not asking you to sell anything you did not want to. I realize you are selling ones you didnt like or want. I feel bad having you hold on to those couple that I want, so I thought I would ask about the others that are not on the list. If you are adding more to the list later, I thought it would help somehow. It doesnt make sense to me to have you go thru the trouble of packaging and sending some only to add more to the list later and have to repackage and resend. I would never ask you to sell something you want if you would have to go rebuy it. I dont know how else to explain, but I am sorry that Ive offended you.
ETA: Also I asked about those four colours because you have a lot of discontinued colours on your list. Those, I cannot buy. I am really sorry that you were insulted by that and again, thats not what I intended.
ETA vol 2: I also feel that this would have been best discussed thru PMs and not on a public board. But since Ive already responded, here it is

Thanks again BBGrrl, I love all the polishes and will continue to watch your list. Whenever you are ready for another GO (and it's at your leisure), I'm ready too!
BBGrrl
August 1st, 2007, 07:01 PM
Garnet don't ever worry about asking me to set something aside. It sits on my desk and looks happy waiting to move to a new home. But you have to understand you and I have very similar tastes. So if you love it chances are so do I.
I am not offended. It takes a lot more to upset me. I just needed everyone to know that if it's not on the list it may never make it there. I am a polish junkie and I am having to choose very carefully which ones to give up. Right now I am in the process of going through 5 polishes daily. At the end when I hit the sheers it will slow down a bit. Plus if I can't get to the polishing done I may miss a day. Even so I should be through them with in a month to a month and a half.
Oh and Garnet it's not going to hurt a thing for the polishes you want to sit on the desk the entire month if that is what is needed.
justgreen I am so glad you have liked the polishes you have gotten. I was thinking about another OPI GO in early Sept. Does that sound good? Oh and how about some Amish pins? I need to restock.
Garnett
August 1st, 2007, 08:27 PM
okay. It sounded like you were angry. Im glad youre not. If you dont mind then, could you please set aside (for now  )
far east fuchsia or pompeii purple
midnight blue glitter
black satin
it's now or never
I really thought I had the OPI-virus bad.. Im "only" at 60 something bottles.
PS: Thanks!
ETA: another colour

Another OPI GO sounds great BBGrrl! I'm ready! I haven't even worn any of the ones I've gotten so far, but I normally wear reds in the winter time anyway. I think I'll go 'a little crazy' this time around.
Garnett
August 6th, 2007, 07:08 AM
Hi BBGrrl :)
I have a question about two of the polishes. Maybe you can help? Far east fuchsia looks different on every auction. Its similar to pompeii purple in some pictures and in others looks almost rosy - like bubble gum. Can you try to describe the difference between the two? Or are they really similar?
Thanks so much. :) I am watching the list every day and being a patient little girl :p By the time you've gone thru all of them, you're going to have a huge pile in the corner of the room to send over
ETA: Also, since I have so many just hanging out there, what if I PayPal you the money for the few I know I want, and when the list is completed, then I can send the shipping payment? That way, we both have peace of mind: you know you're not just setting them aside for nothing, and I know they won't accidentally be sold to someone else. Will that work for you?
BBGrrl
August 6th, 2007, 03:17 PM
Garnet the two are very similar in the bottles. I don't know if one of them is more sheer than the other when on but the only difference I see is Pompeii purple has more shimmers. And from the top angle far east fuchsia is slightly more pink. Basically they look very close.
LOL I don't mind as long as they get good homes.
I won't sell the one you want don't worry. If you want me to set aside the ones your questioning that are on the list I will do that too. I have peace of mind. My thought is if you change your mind then all I have to do is put them back up for sale. Right now yours are sitting on the desk waiting for me to finish with playing with colors and the rest are sitting in 3 shoe boxes waiting for someone to want them. It doesn't bother me where they wait.
Garnett
August 6th, 2007, 08:50 PM
hmm.. okay then. Maybe Ill just get both of them  If you could set them all aside, that would be awesome! Ive been looking at themn - hold on, my cat is kicking things off the printer.. k. Ive been looking at the 'possibly' list almost every day trying to figure out which ones I need. Need hehe.. So yeah, Ill keep editing that list and eventually we will finish this deal :D Thanks :)

Hi again BBGrrl,
Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. I was sorting through all the colors!!! I noticed you had many shades that are similar in color - may I ask how you came to acquire this massive collection?
Also, I, like Garnett, need some help deciphering some colors. To (try) to give you an idea of my skin tone - I am of east Indian descent and have light brown skin - I am not dark, but I'm trying to say I am not white either.
First category: French manicure pink and white
pinks: hawaiian orchid, bubblegum, breakfast in bed
whites: galapa-ghost, sweedish nude
I only want one white and one pink. What are the differences between the ones I listed? Are any of them shimmer/frost? I do not prefer matte shades.
Ok, I will be back later with questions about some of the reds and nudes. Thank you so much!

Ok. I am back. I am having a really tough time.
Here are the colors that I cannot decipher:
Reds:
don't wine yukon do it!
mat-adore red
it's my prague-ative
kinky in helsinki
kennebunk-port
What I am looking for: Deep red and/or plum, not orangy, not pinky. Should have shimmer or frost - do NOT want flat colors. Are any of your listed colors similar to "I'm not really a waitress." I love that shade.
nudes:
nomad's dream
samoan sand
innsbruck bronze
chicago champagne toast
Again, I want a color with shimmer or frost, no flat colors. Nothing peachy or pinky.
Thanks again for your help and patience!

I got this collection when I was working in a salon. Now that I am working with individual people I don't need such a huge selection.
I don't think I have seen a picture so I can't help you match your coloring. It has been a while since I have tried these so my memories of out of the bottle has faded.
Whites
Galapa- ghost~ I don't know if it is sheer or not but it is slightly skin toned
Swedish Nude~ unknown if sheer, whitest of the white ones I have but still slightly yellowish
Nothing frosted or shimmery
Pinks
Hawaiian Orchid~ sheer, frost
Breakfast in bed~ looks sheer flesh colored
I don't have a bubblegum. Hawaiian orchid is frosted.

November 27th, 2007, 06:55 PM
Reds:
don't wine yukon do it!~ shimmery purple
mat-adore red~ flat
it's my prague-ative~ shimmery orangy
kinky in helsinki~ shimmery could be seen as pink
kennebunk-port~ flat
Nothing close to I'm not really a waitress
nudes:
nomad's dream~ shimmer, could be seen as pinky
samoan sand~ sheer, flat, could be seen as peachy
innsbruck bronze~ frosted
chicago champagne toast~ frosted

Ok, Hmmm. I think I will take:
Sweedish Nude
Haiwaiian Orchid
Don't wine yukon do it!
And... what is the difference between Innsbruck bronze and Chicago Champagne Toast? I would like one of those.
I'll start with a few and see how these are when I get them, then maybe I will get a few more afterwards.
Thanks again BBGrrl!

Hi BBGrrl,
I'm interested in:
Red Rose Rhine
OPI Red
Embrace
Ti-tan Your Toga
Give Me The Moon
Shipping will be to Australia.
I'm also looking for a colour that will go with a bright salmon coloured dress (don't ask). Out of your colours, I'm thinking Whole Lotta Seoul might be OK, or perhaps To Eros Is Human, or Ecuadorable Coral. I'm not asking you to decide for me, but just checking if I am *way* off - do either of these colours make you immediately retch (ie when thinking of them matched with bright salmon, not just normally!!). This is for toenails only, btw. I've attached a colour swatch photo to show you the colour I'm trying to coordinate with.
Awesomely garish colour swatch (http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3065/2529681637_30d033e989.jpg) (put behind link to save peoples' eyes).
Recommendations/comments not in any way expected, but if you do have any that you're comfortable sharing, they'd be more than welcome. :)

Suzie, Darl_in1, and Rae I have the colors you wanted set aside for you.
justgreen OPI red was asked for by someone else right before you and I can't find red red rhine, I will have to remove that one since it seems to be lost. But all the other colors you asked for are set aside for you. Like last time I will add them to your GO so it will save shipping cost.
Rae I pulled out all 3 of the colors you were thinking about and they all look OK. I don't know the effect you are after so it is hard to say. To eros is human looks a little purpley, whole lotta seoul is more pearlesent, and the other color is very close to the dress, so it bright lights big city, just a little brighter than ecuadorable coral (I know you didn't ask about that one but I thought I would bring it up anyway).
Are any of these independent of the GO? If they are I will pack them up tonight and get the shipping cost next time I go to the post office.
Rae~

Red Rose Rhine
OPI Red
Embrace
Ti-tan Your Toga
Give Me The Moon
Whole Lotta Seoul
Ecuadorable Coral
So that will be $14, yes? (plus shipping, of course)
Do I pay this all together when I pay for the GO, or would you prefer to keep it separate? (Either is fine with me.)
Many thanks, BBGrrl. :flower:

I found another website that’s good for viewing IRL pics of OPI colours – nailgal.com (http://nailgal.com/index.php). As well as user-submitted "on-nail" pics in various lighting, there are a variety of colour wheels (http://nailgal.com/index.php?cat=19) and nail swatches (http://nailgal.com/thumbnails.php?album=74); you can also search (http://nailgal.com/search.php) for pics of a specific colour (although saving a page for future reference doesn't work if you access it via the search, I found out). Anyway, I found the site really helpful.
BBGrrl - Now that I’ve seen more photos of the colours I’d picked, I’d like to make the following changes, please.
Please remove from my list:
Ti-tan Your Toga
Give Me The Moon
and please add to my list:
Big Apple Red <- only *if* it's available; I wasn't sure?
Bright Lights, Big Color
Up the Amazon Without a Paddle
Nice Color, Eh?
Hong Kong Sunrise
Niagara Falls for OPI
Taupe-less Showgirls
Nomad's Dream
Desire
Infatuation
Thank you!
I know, I'm buying a ridiculous amount of polish for someone who only ever wears it on her toes, and (usually) only ever in red! Crazy.
I shudder to think what this is all going to cost... :boggle:

Heh - I wondered if the site might be already known to someone. :)
It's great to be able to look at colours - there are so many choices! Maybe it would be useful to have an OPI colour thread here at TBB, where we could post pics of the various colours we all have. If no-one else does in the meantime, I might start one when I receive my bottles from BBGrrl. At the moment I don't have anything to post! :)

I'm eyeing the 'wanted red or alive' and the 'outback aphrodisiac'......
Is it worth you're while shipping two all the way to me? If not, then no worries.....I've already got a huge list of others I want, so I can do without!!!!
ETA by justgreen: I hit the wrong button again, grrrrrrrrrrrr here's my answer to Darl-in1:
If those are off of BBgrrl's private stash, you might want her to hold them for you. I think we are running another OPI GO in a month or so.....evil enabler that I seem to be....

Darl_in I have no problem sending you 2 polishes. It may not be worth the shipping cost but that is up to you. Although Outback aphrodisiac is pending, I haven't had time to put it in. Is there something else you have been thinking about?

OK, thanks for letting me know. I'll have another look. Having seen Justy's evil enabling (:gurn: ) above...I might wait and see!
I've decided I'm really looking for is a deep blood red with brown tones...but a flat colour (not shimmer or glitter)...a bit like a redder version of Romeo and Joilet without the shimmer. So I'll go and have a look.
Oh..and I gutted because I broke my Yoga-ta get this blue...:stress: so I really *do* deserve more polish!!

Oh I am so sorry about your blue. You definatly deserve more colors because of that. A loss of a great color needs replacement.
But...I don't have anything that fits your criteria in my stash. I like both black cherry chutney and russian to the party. Although both have some shimmer. I can't think of anything right off hand that is darker than romio and joliet that is flat. That by no means means it's not out there it means I have fallen down on my job knowing all the colors they make.

I know....I think I need at least two more to help me get over the upset!!:lafhard:
No worries.....I think I've found it - 'Oh to be 25 again'....I think it's an old one maybe...but I found a bottle over here, so I'm going to get it and give it a go.
I love Black Cherry Chutney too - it's one of the ones I just got on the GO and it's gorgeous. I kind of like the look of Boris and Natasha too......between Justy's enabling and your expertise I think you've created a monster!

Oh, I'm so disappointed... The OPI polish I got from the GO is making my nails peel, like all the other polishes, with the exception of the Sally Hansen stuff. And I wanted to get some more of it because it is applied so beautifully and looks so lush, for a few hours and then it's doomsday.:evileye:
Does OPI have any polishes for "problem" nails? The top coat, Seche Vite, seems to be okay, anyway. :whoohoo:

I am so sorry to here that. Yes they do. They have the envy series. But those are just base coats. You can try them out but personally I would recommend nail tek before the envy's. My nails hated nail envy. And they liked the nail tek for a week before they revolted. Can you tell I don't do for problem nails stuff?
Peeling...peeling....I hate to say this but you may want to try the base coat with diamond dust in it. It has protein. It's what I use when I have been abusing my hands to much.
But personally if you are having that many problems...If I were you I would quit polishing my nails. A good buffer can shine them up beautifly and then you won't have as many problems.
OK sorry I am wishy washy. I want to help out but I dont know exactly how to. Do your nails like it when you wash your hair in protein shampoo?

My nails used to peel and crack easily . I upped my intake of Biotin and haven't had many problems with them.

I looked for wanted red or alive and can't find it, I am so sorry. For some reason I am thinking someone bought it last time we did an order and I forgot to update the list. I will update it tomorrow. Maple leaf is sitting here for you and I will take a picture of live in NY tomorrow when we have better light.
BTW I have no problem going to the store for you. Let me know which polish you are looking for and I can check to see if they still have it.

justy they have both blues and neither red. Mama mia was short time and no longer being made. Remeber to ask quicker when the small collections come out. They usually only have a life of 1-3 months before being discontinued. And nobody had even heard of the other one. I can't even place which collection it used to be in.
I had fun today at the store. We bought a collection of pedicure stuffs and some shampoos. So it was a needed trip after all:lafhard: .

I like the Live from NY, hang on to it for me please? I'll take both reds and I'll look again through the list on the OPI site, but I think I'll be done. I got some Shamrock green the other day, with the matching glitter that goes over it (NOT OPI), but I thought it looked fun, might do my toes in it for St Paddy's Day,.....if I can reach my toes....gah.

Justy, I have Mama Mia! It is full, only used once (I don't like sheers as much as I thought I did). I have it in my swap/sell thread (http://chatter.thebeautybottle.com/showthread.php?t=1547).
