View Full Version : After the shock wears off, what will you do this week?

I plan to start going through a bunch of junk that I have in a storage room and getting rid of a bunch of it. I plan to take a car load of stuff to the women's shelter for donations and I hope to take a bunch of boxes of books to half-priced books and hope to make some money.

I think I'll start exercising more. I've been walking every day for the last week for at least 40 minutes each time. I think I'll add some water aerobics.

Who knows, I *might* clean house a little! :parp: Not too much, mind you. I wouldn't want hubby to think it would be a regular event! :innocent: LOL

Oh, and I'll probably talk to Lisajaney about 4 times on the phone. :whoohoo:

Great question. :) This finally gives me the impetus to start learning German! I hope to attend a conference in Germany in the fall, and I don't want to be one of those people who visits a foreign country and expects everyone to speak English. Also, I just started singing lessons, so I'll have plenty of time to practice. :moo: I just like this smiley. No reflection on how my singing sounds. Of course not.

Ugh, the thought of participating more in real life is not appealing to me on this fine Sunday morning! ;) DS is off to camp for 3 weeks next weekend, so I will probably be Sgt. Laundry N. Nametagputteronner with all of my spare time.

Anja :bunny:  Great idea, let's hope her answer is "Berlin" or something.

Since the World Cup is going on at the moment, I'll spend the time watching TV. Erm. It's a kind of sport, you know? I mean, at least I'm watching other people being athletic.

Cleaning stuff out sounds good too. We'll see if I can stop procrastinating.

This is scary week for me. :whyme: Dentist first thing Monday morning *blech*, then a myelogram and discogram scheduled sometime during the rest of the week. :rain: I've had a myelogram before, but I'm terrified about the discogram. :petrified: Think I'm gonna start a thread on this to see if there are any others out there who've gone through this.

lol .. just re-read what I'd written and it sounds like a discogram is where a tacky male stripper comes to your door and disco dances for you. :gurn: my mind is a terrible thing...

I hope y'all have a wonderful week! :grinhappy:

I'm teaching a new class that starts this week, so I'll be reading up and preparing lectures and homework assignments. And I'm going to try very hard to get myself on a regular, early-to-bed and early-to-rise sleeping schedule.

Hopefully I won't just sit in front of the LHC screen feeling sad. :)

I don't knoooow! :sob: (Where's that hysterically weeping smiley when we need it? At least we still have a pirate! :pirate:) I guess I'm not over the shock yet...

Well, I'll probably play American McGee's Alice (the only videogame I really play) quite a bit more. I might spend some time just sitting around reading. Maybe I'll practice my violin as I keep intending to... And of course I'll spend a lot of time here at The Beauty Bottle :whoohoo:

Mind if I join you? Except, well, with Russian? I need to refresh my memory (took Russian years ago) so I can pass a language exam for my degree. I keep putting it off. :parp:

Other things I'll be doing this week:
trying to arrange fieldwork
knitting (hand and machine)
reading
organizing closets
yardwork
learning to use my serger

The deck is finished, with the exception of one step, so I can spend some time in the sunshine, crocheting and catching up on my ebay listings. I am dreadfully behind.

I suppose I shall divide my internet time between TBB, somethingawful forums, and looking at LHC sadly. I already spend time wanting to be online because 'there is nothing else to do' and then wandering around LHC looking at old threads that haven't been updated wishing they had been :ooh:

Other than that I'll be reading a book from the library, spending some time outside (if the heat doesn't kill me) and impatiently waiting for my ficcares

Russian? Maybe I can help? I'm fluent in it, slightly out of practice but fluent. I'll get the practice in the end of July/ start of August, when I go to Russia. (I wonder if there are any LHC memebers in St. Petersburg.:ooh:) Now if only I could get my hands on the cyrillic keyboard stickers, ones that don't come off in a week or two.

I'll be studying for an exam and sewing a costume this week.

That's what I'll be doing as well. Except since the majority of people in the "real world" annoy me to no end, I'll probably still stay indoors and think about projects I'd like to accomplish like clearing out all the junk/crap I've accumulated, ordering some more summer reading materials, coloring my hair, cutting my bangs, stuff that will probably not get accomplished. Oh yeah, and that fun thing that I do everyday called work.:boggle:

Ack, maybe I'll get around to the organizing that I've put off for way too long. See how many liters the Beauty Bottle holds, make rawcous noises on eat.rawfood.com, get a new disk for my old computer, practice with the choir, and draw lots.

No I didn't think of a disco-gram; I figured if a myelogram is some sort of medical test, a discogram must be too.

Three men met one day. One had muscle cramps; the other had painful urination.
"I have to see the myologist tomorrow. I get these cramps."
"Something's wrong with my bladder. I'm going to make an appointment with the urologist."
The third said to the second: "What sort of doctor is the histologist?"

Since learned how to talk.:cheesy: I was born in Russia, finished 5th grade there before I came to the United States. English is my second language. I'm a little out of practice in the writing department, considering there aren't a lot of opportunities to write in Russian for me. Russian grammar is easier than English, the rules have far less exceptions in Russian than they do in English.

My favorite language is Japanese which I'm learning now.

I used to watch a Japanese for schools programme on television a while back I'd really like to take it up again one day the alphabet is beautiful like the Russian alphabet I'm not sure that I'd ever master it though

English is hard to learn. My father has been studying for 50 years...hasn't finished yet, not even close. I learned it fast because I was still a child when I started.
When I was in Russia people were wondering how that could be my first language when they saw my writing. With English at least I have an excuse. I'm a pretty bad writer. Generally my handwriting is chicken scratch, if not worse. Its been called a different language, and not English or Russian. Maybe it looks like the writing of this one's planet. :et: I'm better at speaking in any language I know than I am in writing.

Japanese has 2 alphabets actually. Same sounds but used in different occasions. Both are 46 letters. An there are the chinese characters in addition the the alphabets. It does take a while because its pretty much relearning how to read and write from scratch. With cyrillic or English the letters are similar.

Couple of sites I found might be of use in the learning of the Russian.
http://www.alphadictionary.com/directory/Languages/Slavic/Russian/

That would be me too. :purplex: I've given up on it. I am just meant to be white. Once when I got a really bad sunburn, :whyme: my Aunt just looked at me and said, "well at least you'll be tan after this". Uh, not me! I go from white to red to white again.
And then, there are people who consider being/getting tan as necessary as brushing their teeth and feel it necessary to comment on how "pale you are". :irked:

I have some senseless paper work for school that should have been done last week, I plan on cleaning out the garage and some of my son's and my clothes, tons of weeding to do, and I have that little on line class to write.

I just don't know what to do - this is a horrible day! <wink>
My beloved LHC is down, we're having to do major cleaning and organizing up here at work (everything is moving and it smells weird and there are teenagers helping (teenagers are scary!!), and I'm all weird in the head due to the allergy/cold medicine I'm taking. Couple all that with a total lack of sleep this past weekend and I'm ready to crack!!!!!!!

Help (in my most pathetic whiney voice!):whyme:

This site may help a little, but it's new and a weird color and the smileys are different and I don't have my Jessie58 or Kris or HairyFairy or AlleyCat or Sian100 or Shella13 or SamaraMorgan or Wind or LittleFlower or Jason or Darkwaves or Meezer or Kittcat or Hairstorm or Spiraleeeee photothreads to visit and hang out in. boooohooooooo

None of my reality friends are as supportive as my virtual friends - they won't let me whine like you guys do!

I guess I'll go join in the "organization" going on outside my office door. Later I have to thoroughly clean my office from top to bottom as we get ready for the audit tomorrow. Anyone wanna come help?

Hello all!

I'm going to sneak here from time to time while I'm at work. Otherwise, now that the rain has finally slowed a bit, DH and I will put up the swing set we've been meaning to assemble in our back yard, and hopefully I'll get into the kitchen and make some soap and other stuff for my weekly farmers market sale, trim and dry the nettles my SIL harvested for me, pull up some burdock and dry it. Prolly all the things I was hoping to do this week anyway.

Hi niniane! Thank you for the cute smiley. Actually, I was going to gripe about them (it must just not be my day!!!!!!) - I don't like the new smiley's. - they're confusing!

teeanagers scare me because they talk way tooooo much and think they know everything. Well, most teens - I will have to admit that Wind and SamaraMorgan and PegasusMarsters are just plain amazing! It's so funny, it took me forever to realize that Peg was a teen!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's just so busy up here. strange "temporary employees" (or the scary teens) keep walking by my office door and I'm not used to seeing them. I feel like I'm in the Twighlight Zone!

no more dust bunnies here - the teens have zapped them all:whoohoo:

what's a car smog? (hello, btw!)Hi MMO3! In California when your car registration needs renewing, sometimes you have to get a smog check on your car to make sure it's not polluting excessively. So we can all breathe! ;)

Good luck with your cleaning, cold and audit!

*Just read this thread and is highly amused by the boot references*

Niniane: I would never use my boots for evil! Unless it's evil involving Johnny Depp, and then perhaps. :sweatdrop:

Muggle: Thank you so much for the sweet compliment! :whoohoo:

I think Johnny Depp negates any evilness in the situation :secret:

Tuesday I'm meeting up with a certain someone :parp:
Hmm, Niniane... who could that be? :innocent:

I can't wait to see your toys. Wish I could have gone to the fair, but I have no clue where that is  I should be good though - I've got Ficcares due to arrive this week!

I cut out my fabric for my mei tai last night and started sewing. I will finish it tonight, I hope :)

Johnny Depp is yummy... just don't tell my DH I said so

I love this attitude. It really makes me feel like the generation ahead of mine is doing their best to raise their children and turn out good, hardworking, intelligent, productive members of society.

I hope you know I'm just joking. I have basically two teens and love them to death - at the moment my DD10 is the one who drives me crazy! Today we have our "out of school" kiddos at work helping us clean, and they are in there chattering away - it's just not usually this noisy at work! And when you try to tell them the proper way to dispose of some of the chemicals we have up here - they're not listening because they think they've already heard it. Sometimes young people can be frustrating, just as sometimes us old farts can be frustrating too!

We're all trying our hardest, though, aren't we. And that's all you can ask for!

ok. <end hijack>

I guess I'll be hanging around the BB.

But, I also have plenty of RL stuff to catch up on. I've got to get kindergarten uniforms, register for soccer and vacation bible school, do some shopping for some new kitchen things and clothes for the kids.

I'm taking my daughter to see a movie and then a few days later taking her to the airport, she's visiting her Dad out of state for 2 weeks. :purplex:

I also still need to organize the dining room and kitchen since our kitchen remodeling is nearing the end. :D

I also still need to look into some college stuff for my son. :boggle:

I should have a pretty busy week and then we've got a party/cookout this weekend. And I'm sure Riley will be over to stay too.

Couple of sites I found might be of use in the learning of the Russian.
http://www.alphadictionary.com/directory/Languages/Slavic/Russian/
http://masterrussian.com/

This for Japanese Language

Hmm, maybe we should start a language thread?

Thank You for those sites they are fascinating:happy:
I would rate English as one of the hardest languages to learn.I think part of the problem is that it has so many influences from other languages
I read a list once that rated languages by degree of difficulty and Indonesian came out as the easiest language to learn
I agree we need a language thread:grinhappy:

Language thread created!
With English, I dont know if its the influences. I have noticed that people learning English as a second (or third..etc) language have problems with the exceptions in the rules of grammar and pronunciation.

That's an interesting point Both my Russian teachers who learned English as adults had a thorough grasp of Grammar that I don't but here Grammar is not even taught in schools it just gets a brief mention under the heading of Creative Writing:pissed:

In Russia grammatical rules are taught in school, students have to memorize the rules and their names. (I forgot all of them. -_-) Many Russians who study English do the same to English grammar rules, and it tends to confuse them because they try to follow the rule every time but there are so many exceptions.

Aaaaand why do you think those exceptions exist? It's because we merged German and French grammatical structures :lafhard:

Well . . . did ya'll do what you thought you'd get done?

Since my computer died on Monday, I got *some* of what I'd planned one. I didn't get to the storage room (95-101 degree F days), but I DID go though a bunch of stuff here at home.

I also watched a gazillion video tapes (movies I was trying to decide whether to get rid of or not).

Germany meet! :whoohoo: Thanks for suggesting that, Anja and Juliet. I need to make sure all my paperwork goes through so I'm allowed to go, but yes, if it happens, it'll be Berlin. :) I'll post to the LHC meets board once I am more certain.

hahaha..

I finished reading A Feast for Crows and now desperately need a trip to the bookstore or library to pick up some more things to read.

I didn't hem my dresses :purplex:

But I have been playing around with the piano and can play one song sort of okay-ly.
