I just want to know the proper way or the way everyone else applies these. I have been using them a lot recently due to the fact that I have lost most of mine due to my chemo. My eyes look so much better with lashes. This is the way I have been applying them:
I apply the glue to the lashes and apply them (this is the part I am good at). I let them dry and make sure they are on to stay. I then start to apply my makeup. I do my lid and then I use one of my powder liners wet so its like using a liquid liner. I find its the only way to hide the base of the falsies without being totally noticeable. So here lies my problem. What if I dont want to use a liquid liner and want a more natural look? How would I do that without giving the secret away that I am wearing false eyelashes? Is there another/different way to do it?:purplex:

I've used false lashes in theatre, so I think I might know the answer to this one.
We apply the glue to the lashes, apply the lashes, and let them dry. Then we go over the line of demarcation with a pencil liner. Then it's 3 coats of mascara, straight through, starting at the base of the lashes. (None of that wiggly, squiggly nonsense. :lafhard:)
I'd try a lighter-colored pencil liner, if the pencil is still to dark.
Hope that helps!

The make-up class I went to the other night gave us a book which shows us the proper way to apply them so I feel more confident doing so now. I cant wear them evey day due to allergies and my eyes start to itch and swell.

When I was studying makeup artistry and beauty therapy we were taught to put them on over eyeliner and eyeshadow but apply mascara after they were stuck on. Enough of the mascara (if you have a good one) will leak down a bit and cover the base. Also with the glue - less is more. You really only need the tiniest amount. There should not be any showing through the lashes but I think that comes with loads of practice. The whole application process is easier said than done!

I have tried and tried and tried to put on fake eyelashes - to no avail. When I danced back in college - someone else always had to put them on me for performances. I've tried the whole eye, bitty lashes, different sizes and brands, and I just can't do it. Are there any videos out there that might help me try again. I don't know anyone in town now that wears them so I don't have a live assistant! I think if I could get them on straight ya'lls tips up there might be good to try!!!!!:geek:

We did something pretty similar for cheerleading... although, for cheer it was a different story- LOADS of makeup. I thought over-the eyliner looked much better. My routine was eyeshadow-eyeliner-false lashes-mascara. Though admitedly, it didn't look natural anyway, as it wasn't supposed to. :whyme:

Hi CB! I haven't used false eyelashes, I am sure they are a challenge! But if I get my eyeliner on too thick, I just cover part or all of the liner with eyeshadow. This will at least soften the line if not hide it completely. Here's another thought, don't know if it would work, but when you use eyeshadow to wetline, maybe you could try using a natural eyelid color of eyeshadow, a light peach or pink. Or a concealer? Or if that doesn't cover enough and you really need eyeliner, maybe a softer shade, like plum or charcoal.
Haven't tried these, just thinkin' . . . good luck. I'll bet you look darling in your false eyelashes!!

CB,
Are you using the whole-eye strips or the individual lashes? I've tried both, and I find that the individual ones, though a pain to apply, look more natural. My sis used them when she lost her lashes due to stress, too, and she'd use a pencil line over the top, soften it with a 'smudger' (or you could use a q-tip I guess) and then blend a neutral shadow over the top.
I think that should work on full-eye strips too, but it might look a little heavier.
I hope it works out well for you

Hi CB...
I used to wear falsies all the time. Here's a tip. For more natural looking lashes, get the kind that are on a clear base (strip), instead of black. You won't see the clear line, and you can put a soft shadow over it. Looks perfect for a more natural or day look. Also...don't be afraid to trim the width of the lashes. Most lashes are too wide, and they don't look correct. I always trimmed the two outside "clumps" of lashes from the strip. You can also buy demi lashes as wll for a more natural look.
Hope this helps!!

Thanks for all the great tips guys. I have been using the ones with the clear base so they look pretty natural and I like them alot. The problem is some times I have a very unsteady hand due to how ill I feel on certain days. I guess those are the days I wont wear them. I did learn a few tricks on how to make it look like I have more lashes than I do with a soft eyeliner above the lid. It works out well when I dont want to wear the lashes. I also shoud try using the partial ones and place them were I need them the most. The problem there is that as the days go by I need them everywhere so a full lash is almost a neccessity now.
