I am in need of a good home-made face scrub or exfoliator recipe. I seem to be in need of it since the TToil i am using is drying my skin a bit and i need to get it off.
I could have done a google search but i wanted a tried and trusted recipe. What better place than here:grinhappy: ?
TIA.

I use baking soda with lemon juice. It helps to get the occasional flaskes off and keep my face pale. and I really enjoy seeing the effervescence produced when i mix the baking soda together with lemon juice. :sweatdrop:

I use a little baking soda mixed with cleanser (or just a baking soda paste). Once a month or so I'll use an aspirin mask with honey :)

I'll second LittleFlower's suggestion on the aspirin mask. It's a wonderful exfoliating treatment, and it doesn't irritate your skin. You can also try ground oatmeal or almonds. They're both pretty soft scrubs.

Right now im on TToil for enlarged pores and zits. So i guess i should skip the baking soda. I'd try the aspirin. :ooh: so many things to do.
The almond and oats sound pretty good. BUt is that ok for oily skin?

I would also suggest mixing some baking soda in with your cleanser or just with water to make a paste it gently exfoliates the dead skin cells. Ground oatmeal is also good and works for all skin types, you can grind it in a food processor.
Since the Tea Tree Oil is drying out your skin try diluting it in jojoba oil. If I use TTO neet it dries out my skin also and I have an oily T zone.
ETA: Jojoba oil is a good moisturizer for all skin types as it balances the skin. Also try adding a few drops of lavender EO to the jojoba and tea tree oil mixture and use that after cleasning. That mixture works great for me.

I put a pinch of baking soda in my OCM mix for the morning and it seems to work well without drying.

Honey! The solid kind of honey works as a gentle exfoliator when massaged in and also does not dry out the skin at all. I use it as an exfoliating mask and my skin looks great afterwards. Please note that the honey definitely should be of thicker kind.

Oatmeal and honey is wonderful for oily skin! It also helps with acne... You can mix a drop of TTO in this, leave it on for 15 - 30 minutes and then wash it off like a scrub. Kind of like a 2 in 1 mask scrub. You should use thick honey and uncooked oatmeal, not the instant kind.
Hope that helps!!
