Since I am wearing my hair curly all the time, 2 people have said I look like I have "beach hair". I have never really heard that term. Is this a "good" thing? :purplex: (the TRUTH please)

...*trying to picture beach hair which would be what hair looks like after you've been to the beach and in the water I suppose..or is it 'mermaid' hair? :grinhappy: *

Are you naturally curly or do your curl your hair??

If you are naturally curly I'd say keep it up and let your hair be who it is.

If you are naturally straight and want to be curly...I'd say use non damaging methods and maybe try different ways to get a different look.

I'd think of 'beach' hair as small/tight waves (..like maybe 2c hair from fia's hairtyping) rather than curls but what do I know..hehe..

If you want to determine whether or not they mean it as a good thing..2 choices..either ask ('is that a compliment?') or try to tell from how they say it whether they are complimenting or otherwise.

I straightened for YEARS and have recently decided to let my hair just "be", no heat styling, no poo just CO and oils. I LOVE it. Mostly I get compliments about it so I am thinking they mean it that way. I have 2C/3A curls mostly. I was just confused about the term "Beach hair" and was having trouble picturing it. :lafhard:

I adore curly hair (...straighty here =p) so woohoo for you to keep it curly!!

It's probably meant as a compliment...but either way..YAY! Curly..hehe

I can sort of picture 'beach hair' on someone naturally straight but can't at all on a curly head. Hrmm.

People spend a ton of money to get "beach hair," so trust me it's a good thing! You look like you spent the day playing in the waves, sun, and salt mist. Your hair looks natural, young, and carefree. All good things.

I let my hair air-dry one day without touching it after washing and when I posted the pic (http://s19.photobucket.com/albums/b168/justgreen_/?action=view&current=Hair2006Jan10coconuttreatment.jpg), someone said it looked like beach hair. :gurn:

I would take it as a compliment!

It's very pretty

i try so hard to get this look and get lucky only once in awhile.i agree with everyone else that said it-it looks like you spent the day running around in the sand and having fun.the one thing i have found that gives this affect is john frieda's beach blonde beach waves(its the bottle with the blue oil liquid that blends when you shake it).
i would definately keep the style up.like i said,i have spent many countless hours tring to get that same look :)

I am sort of haphazard and crazy anyway :lafhard: Who would have thought I could spend years and years straightening and blowfrying and abusing my hair and then finally finding out I could just condition, spread some cheap aloe gel, fingercomb and go and get better hair. Only in America! :lafhard:

Just did a fishtail/herringbone braid last night to sleep and my waves this morning kind of reminded me of beach hair..which was very amusing.

Justy's picture is about exactly what I think of when I think of beach hair...but the braid waves just sort of reminded me of it.

It really doesn't show as well in the pictures but here are before and after combing shots (I'm having photo thread withdrawal symptoms =p) along with the bottom of the braid (only part that looked good) and the whole thing for your amusement.

As an aside, braided buns done with fishtail braids are pretty :whoohoo:
...oh I'll go ahead and put that picture here too *eyeroll* I was only going to put up two pictures and I couldn't decide and ended up putting up six..anyway...the WAVES were mostly what I was talking about :gurn:

enitsirk, :lafhard: I love your braid bun!

Thank you :grinhappy: ((and thank you, too curlygirl!!))

I saw the fishtail braid and was embarrassed (even though it was only for bed) and thought 'hrmmm...wonder how this'd look bunned' so put it in a quick cinnabun and took a picture..I'm glad I did as I'd never done a fishtail braided bun before and I quite like the effect.
