I thought it would be fun to share our personal "besties" when it comes to polish, including top and base coats. Here is mine out of those I have tried so far:

Base Coat: Strong Adhesion by China Glaze. Want to try CND sticky.

Top Coat: Seche Vite followed by China Glaze Fast Forward. Want to try Out the Door and CND Shiny.

Color: Hard to pick. I love the Sinful Colors and Pure Ice because they are gorgeous and cheap. I have some OPI I have not tried yet. I have everything from Maybelline, Sally Hansen, Sinful Colors, China Glaze, OPI, Wet and Wild, etc. I don't have a fave so far.

Treatment: Seche Rebuild. :) I want to try OPI Nail Envy. :D

What are your besties?

I've used Sticky and Shiny for years. They've always been good. Years ago I used Revlon and L'Oreal polish. Now I use mostly OPI and China Glaze. I have a few Sally Hanson polishes too. I love the new shatter polishes and the OPI sparkles. Teenage Dream from the Katy Perry OPI collection is awesome. I like pinks, purples, cool reds. Not really fond of warm oranges, browns and rusts. I see so many women wearing rust polish on their toes. They claim it goes with everything. I can't think of anything it really goes with. But that's just me.

I have not worn rust, but I do love yellows and oranges.

I am having issues with neon polish, though. I *LOVE* it so much, but it all goes on streaky and is like goop, even the China Glaze neon I have. I don't know if there is a secret to its application or not. I just keep trying. Maybe I should try really laying the layers down thick for neon polishes.

Carolyn, do you use a nail prep for your nails before you polish other than nail polish remover? I picked up some Orly Prime Time to try. Anything to keep the chips at bay!

Snowy, I have acrylics now. I get a fill about every 3 weeks but will stretch it to 4 sometimes. Polish on acrylics doesn't chip like it does on natural nails. Mine will often wear off at the tips before it chips. When I had natural nails the most I could go was about 2 days, if I was lucky and careful, before I had to take off my polish and reapply it.

I had a neon pink mani/pedi this summer. It took 3 coats of polish. I remember the brand was Chelsea. I was leery of it because I'd never heard of it before and was concerned it was cheap crap and wouldn't hold up but it did. I wonder if 3 thinner coats of a neon is better than 2 regular?

I love love love Sticky! I switched from Seche Vite over to Out The Door (http://reviews.sallybeauty.com/6151/SBS-505010/reviews.htm), Love it much better, and I was hooked on Seche for years!

Got a new Sinful Color at Walgreens today for $1.99 Midnight Blue. (http://www.flickr.com/photos/evasuper/5502292545/meta/) It's going on my toes tomorrow.

I have TONS of OPI polish, a few China Glaze and several Sally Hansen, some of my faves are SH. I think I have at least 100 bottles of nail polish....I think I might go through them and take some of them to my hair dresser. She does lots of mani's and pedi's, real and acrylic. One of the best things she does is gel toes. I had them all last summer, loved them, but I was spending $30 a pop just to get my toe nails done, so now I'm back to just regular polish. She clips and cleans my toes, polishes them for $10. A bargain for me and my pedi lasts over a month using Sticky and OTD top coat.

I couldn't tell you the last time I wore nail polish. :gurn:
However, in honor of Ovarian Cancer Awareness month, I decided to buy a bottle of teal tonight.

Bought Wet 'n' Wild FastDry in Party of Five Glitters. Got home and realized didn't have any nail polish remover.
No matter- put it on anyway. Have a few small boo-boo areas, but nothing glaring. Mostly polish around the edges where it shouldn't be. LOL

I really like it. It's more of a blue teal than a green teal, and of course- there's glitter in it. :whoohoo:

Glitter is always good, Kimmy!

Oooh, fun thread. I love nails. :)

Favorite treatment: Trind's nail care system when I can stick with the nightly routine. My nails literally crumble as they grow out (sometimes painfully) due to my thyroid issues and this stuff not only strengthens, but moisturizes and allows me to have pretty, long nails. Sally Beauty's Nail Life is also another fav, but doesn't work *quite* as well.

Favorite polish: I only have two. OPI's Malaysian Mist (http://www.google.com/imgres?q=malaysian+mist&start=16&num=10&um=1&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&biw=1084&bih=740&tbm=isch&tbnid=vycQ1VBnBJH6BM:&imgrefurl=http://erickadukes.com/2011/09/15/opi-fashion-week/&docid=nyF2DdTAPAkA5M&w=320&h=259&ei=ffl7TqbkKaf50gHTremkAg&zoom=1) - especially when I have a tan. It's a sheer beige, commonly used for French manicures (which I love, too). The other is OPI's Overexposed in South Beach (http://www.google.com/imgres?q=overexposed+in+south+beach&um=1&hl=en&client=safari&sa=N&rls=en&biw=1084&bih=740&tbm=isch&tbnid=VwwslQgGKfBbbM:&imgrefurl=http://www.scrangie.com/2009/01/opi-south-beach-collection-springsummer.html&docid=_Fpd8mtwbG6ntM&w=400&h=289&ei=D_l7ToSzGarF0AHYvuy8Ag&zoom=1), which is a gorgeous, lush, dark fuchsia.

Recently, I saw this picture (http://www.google.com/imgres?q=OPI+Espresso&um=1&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&biw=1084&bih=740&tbm=isch&tbnid=Zp48KSltbeQfPM:&imgrefurl=http://pinterest.com/pin/67708313/&docid=QcJnG_jo2AsHOM&w=500&h=376&ei=Uvp7TsfWA-fo0QHfl8GxAg&zoom=1) of OPI's Espresso and I may have to try it.

Top coat: Out the Door. I love how glossy it is when it dries. Wet shine that lasts for a couple of days.

When my nails start peeling and crumbling too bad (and hurting), I usually slap on some glue on nails to protect them. I don't buff my natural nails much and wear them until they start to fall off about a week later (soaking off any that don't easily pop off). I use Kiss CustomFit, medium length in 00389/CF06. They're beige (not pink!) and look so, so, so good. Honestly, I don't know why I don't do them every week.

Why don't I get acrylics or gels? Because I've yet to find anyone, even in upper end spas, who can do them without leaving "rings of fire" when they do fills. I detest fill lines. Those of you who get them done and done well...I am envious! I love having my nails done. :)

Steph- My nails do the same as yours. I'll have to look up the Trind. :grinhappy:

Carolyn- Glitter *is* always good :whoohoo:
And if I didn't have enough glitter (well, it's a fine glitter; looks more like a glimmer on the nails) a friend at work handed me her bottle of glitter nail polish and said "You need more glitter!" Guess what I did during break? :lafhard:

I have to say, I am loving the polish. May make a habit of this yet...

I think nice nails and toenails are empowering.

Stephanie

I agree. I can feel totally crappy about myself, but if I do my toenails and fingernails, I immediately feel a million times better. It's kinda like wearing diamonds and makeup with sweats. LOL

Yes! I have to admit I have certainly felt more "girly"
As an added bonus, since I normally do not wear nail polish, I've had quite a few people at work ask me about it, so I could spend a little Ovarian Cancer awareness. Win-win! :whoohoo:

The downside- you get what you pay for. :rain:
The Wet 'n' Wild has been chipping something awful. Of course, had I used a top coat, this may not have happened. But still...

Kimmy, nail polish on my natural nails no matter the brand, only lasts 2 days max and that's if I'm really super careful. I can go 2-3 weeks with my acrylics. It wears off before it chips.

Really?
I am such a noob with nail polish. I usually only wear it for special occasions, with little plastic fake nails. Because I want it to look good. :gurn:

I've had acrylics twice. The first time- no problems. The second time, my nail beds hurt so bad after the second day, I literally could not do anything with my hands because even the slightest touch to them send waves of pain through me.

I ripped them off myself. Took at least an hour but I got those puppies off and said "Never again". :evileye:

My nails hurts really bad when I get a new set of nails. It always goes away in a day or two. I didn't know that the first set I got. I mentioned it to the friend who recommended the nail salon to me and she said it was normal. I remember Kimberlily saying the same thing happened to her when she got acrylics. Sometimes it hurts to be beautiful!
