View Full Version : Ebay question re:second chance offers

Hi gals! I lost an auction on some hairtoys last night. This morning when I checked my ebay I recieved a second chance offer. My feedback is 100% and I have about 74 feedback, all positive. My opponent had a feedback number of like 7. Another bidder had MUCHO negative fedback.
Why would a seller bail on the high bidder and offer it to me instead? I purchased them by the way. Can't have too many wooden hair forks can I?
Off to work.

One reason might be that the seller had several identical items to sell, and if he got a really good price it would be advantageous to him to offer the item to several bidders on his list rather than doing another auction which would mean further costs and the uncertainty of if he would get such a good price again (what a sentence! Sorry, for some reason I´m sounding terribly German today...). We´ve done that lots of times.
Or maybe the first buyer backed out for some reason.
If you are asking why did he offer it to you but not to somebody else with more feedback points? Not everybody has the option activated to receive second chance offers.
HTH!

I'd suppose they had more than one set available..
You wouldn't happen to be genie585 would you??
Because if so..they best have had more than one set available. I don't have much feedback but I haven't been on ebay long and I always pay everybody immediately..meaning they've been paid. :grinhappy:

Kris, your hair is beautiful, but the picture of the back barette is absolutely stunning! Whatever you are doing, keep on doin' it girl!:geek:

As for the second chance, was there anything in the auction stating that the seller wouldn't sell to folks with bad or low feedback? That may be why you got the offer. I always look at folks' feedback when they are bidding or buying. I've sold over 550 doilies and I've only had one bad experience, early on. You have a good rep Kris!:lafhard:

If same auction..as far as I know- nothing about low/bad feedback. But I haven't received anything saying 'no sell to you' so if same auction..I assume it was a second set =p
And no..can never have too many wooden hairforks..they are so pretty :soppy:

Oh MAN Enitsirk. Yes I am genie585! We could have bid lower and got a better price. That's why I like the feature at LHC so we know who we are bidding against. I looked at your feedback too and it's all good. Gotta start somewhere, huh?
I didn't mean that you wouldn't get the forks. I read the reasons for a second chance offer and buyer backing out was one of the reasons. I didn't know. But I'm glad we BOTH got such pretty forks.
Justy (Hug) The pic you refer to is from a ponytail that I put curlers in. Thank you sweetie! Ya know I lust after your beautiful blonde straight hair.
Justy nothing about low or bad feedback was mentioned. They must've had a second set laying around.

This happened to me once, too -- turned out the seller had another fork and found it easier to sell this way. It was a nice surprise to get the e-mail, after I'd been outbid.
I hope you both really like your new forks -- will we get pictures?

Because I just really wanted those and was like..oh..find..I'll bid higher...they are so pretty :grinhappy:
We need to go attack Steph for being the cause of us spending more money than necessary
And I got a tracking number for the forks today so..woohoo..waiting on pretties in the mail!!
I'm glad you got the second chance offer too :whoohoo: :whoohoo:

Got my forks yesterday.
From the one I tried I don't really like them :purplex:
It held fine when I got it in 'just so' but something just doesn't feel 'right'
Methinks I'll probably end up trying to sell 'em in a few days on the swap board.
*wants to know what Kris thinks of them*

Hi Kristine!
I haven't gotten mine yet. I sent an email yesterday to see where they are but I can't get to my yahoo mail this morning.
Are they rough? Are they too short? Are they ugly? Maybe I will have to use them as stocking stuffers for my girls shorter hair.
What kind of feedback will you leave?
Now I'm dissappointed. I was so hoping you would LOVE them.

I gave positive feedback because they got here safe and sound and do fit the description. The carvings are beautiful imo..the forks are a good length. Rough..I don't really think they are rough..maybe what makes them feel weird is that *I think* the inside of the fork (inside part of the tongs I mean..where they face each other) is flat instead of rounded.
*shrug* I really just don't know. You'll have to let us know what you think =p

Flat on the inside is different isn't it?
I got a message saying he got my money order today and will be shipped today. I probably won't have them before the weekend. Maybe early next week. It took the money order 5 days to get there. I wouldn't have guessed from Missouri to VT would've taken that long.

Did you guys order from Ancestralvcs? I adore his forks! And he is such a nice guy (I'm Berberis over on eBay). I have 4 of his forks, the moth, the frog, a dolphin, and the turtle. I did have to file two of the forks' tips down to make them sharper. Enitsirk, if you do decide to put them on the swap board, post it please? I might want to offer something up for them. :)
