Now that its finally been diagnosed i am luck enough to have both on each of my hands :(. I do ok with treating my wrists and between the fingers but the skin around my nails is horrible. It builds up so fast if i dont want to feel like i have wood jammed under my nails i have to trim every other day minimum which is obviously not conveinient and leads to very tender finger tips.
I dont use cortisones or other chemical treatments so any natural or lifestyle tips you have are very very welcome :)! The sides of my nails dont bother me as much as the finger tips area where the nail grows out which is fustrating to treat but i'll try just about anything.
P.S. Ive already changed all the hand soaps, body wash, dish and laundry detergents i use to find the least bothersome if that helps any.

My husband has psoriasis (though not on his hands), and he uses a German product called "Melkfett", which is basically vaseline with calendula. I know it sounds counterintitive to use a petroleum product on damaged skin, but he has good results with it. Another keeper for us is lotion containing at least 10% urea.

Hi Calista :)! Thank you for the advice :). Kinda funny but i just bought some calendula spray a few weeks ago! I had a gel but it was only an ounce so i saved it for those i want to rip my skin off moments so now i have something to use every day :). The calendula seems to be working well f or the redness and tightness, if i use it twice a day i helps with the tickening as well. I had a hard time finding something becasue of all the petrol products (something else i dont use) but im very glad i did. I haent looked to much into urea products so thats deffinatly a go :). Thank you so much for the tips i wish i had asked sooner!

I used to have problems with this, on my eyelids, which is bad because you really can't put anything topical there. The best thing that worked for me, sitting in the sun for 20 minutes every day...AND trying to block out the daily stress I was going through. That was 20 years ago. Sometimes even now I can feel a bit of it coming on and I just try and make myself breathe and get some sun. The UV light helps kill those platelets that rise to the skin too fast.
I lived in Oklahoma when I had it really bad, and sunny days every day are hard to find. So on those cloudy days, I would go sit in a tanning booth room with my eyes closed. I didn't lie in the bed, I'd just turn the thing on and close my eyes. It really helped.

Hi justgreen :). Yes i have been trying to talk myself into phototherapy i feel very conflicted though becasue this all sarted after getting a sunburn on the back of my hands (im very pale). I did let them go out unprotected when i was garnening for a few days but all i got was dry cracked skin. I was dealing with alot of moist soil and water though so its hard to tell which did it. Im glad your has been dormant and you have a means to cope with it when it does arise. I wish stress control was so simple... I just got slapped and a plate broken at my feet for not doing the dishes corretly :purplex: so its more of a pressure cooker than an ashram over here. I do my best though :).
Sorry way to much info im just still upset and got online for a distraction. I'll let you know how it goes once i get out after this rain passes.
