Starting with clean, dry nails, use a small shadow brush to buff mineral shadow, glimmer, glimpse or blush onto your nails. Top with a coat of clear polish or nail hardener.
I use Sally Hansen Diamond Strength. :lafhard:
Let dry and apply a second coat.
The result is soft, subtle and pretty. It looks very natural.
You can also foil the mineral colour for a brighter , more opaque look.
Fast-dry polish doesn't work well for this technique.

I have never heard of this! OMG! I have some gorgeous MMU eyeshadow colors that would be perfect for this!
I think it's manicure time.

Wow! This sounds great! :whoohoo:
Shermie Girl, what do you mean by, "You can also foil the mineral colour for a brighter , more opaque look."? How would one go about foiling? :notsure:
Thanks!

You can foil glimmery mineral colours by mixing them with a little water to make a paste. Then you "paint" it on and let it dry. You can do this on your eyes, too. It is really pretty. :lafhard:

Looks like you foiled your Hello Kitty avatar. :lafhard:

Oooooo! Brilliant! I bet the benefits of the mineral's natural sunscreen would be somehow wonderful for the nails, too. :secret:
Huh. Learned something new, today! Thanks, Shermie! This is a very creative idea. :flower:

It does sound interesting., but I have a question. Doesn't it stain your nails?

It's Mineral Makeup. Try searching the forums for it, there are quite a few threads.

Sounds interesting. Anyone care to share pictures? I swear I'm not a foot f*tishist. I'm just wondering if it's worth taking off the three coats of dark red I've already got on. It takes time!! :lafhard:

Shermie Girl, you are brilliant! Does this work on acrylic? I'm going to try this. I don't have any eye shadow colors (can't wear eye shadow), but I have several different blushes that would make awesome nail polish. I use the blushes for lip color too, so it matches. I top it off with gloss.
*justy runs off to play with MMU*

I don't think I want it on my toes, I'm like you. I like my dark red toenails. I do one coat, then a top coat, then another red coat, then another top coat.

I tried it! As Shermie Girl said, it looks very natural. But because of this, I would say you must choose your colors carefully. I used EM Chit Chat, and my nails look feverish! Here are some pictures:

The picture with the dog shows the color best.

I'm not familiar with MMU and must ask and research specific brand names. Thank you, ShermieGirl for sharing. Nice, healthy looking nails.

Justgreen, did it work on your acrylic nails? I can't see why it wouldn't. :grinhappy:
I am happy that you gals are trying it. I love this and I hope you do, too. :whoohoo:

Just wanted to say that I have been having trouble painting my nails. I still haven't mastered colors yet, only the clear base coat :P. I tried this with blue eyeshadow and it worked fabulously! I never would have thought of this.
Thanks!

What an awesome idea! I will try it later in the year when I am not going out in public evey day. I am one of those facetious people who will not wear nail polish that does not match the rest of my outfit.
