Hi everyone :)

At the moment, after a long period of not bothering with foundation, I've started to use the powder foundation again. See I used to use liquid foundation (a sheer one designed to be complimented with powder) and the powder on top of it. Now I don't want to wear liquid foundation and prefer just using concealer, powder foundation and blush. My friend does this and pulls it off beautifully. My problem is that when I use the powder, it's really obvious that I'm wearing powder, like you can see it on my face if you know what I mean lol. Do any of you know the proper way to apply powder so it looks more smooth and sort of blends in with your skin? At the moment I'm using pressed powder where I sort of dab it on with a flat powder puff. Should I be using loose powder? Or sweeping it on with a brush rather than with a powder puff?

Just for reference sake, I use the Collection 2000 pressed powder in Ivory.

Any help would be great thanks :)

Do you use moisturizer? If you do and it isn't enough to adhere the powder to your face, maybe you can try using a primer? I think I know what you're talking about, it's like you were baking and got flour all over your face? :silly: Try spritzing your face with water, or water+glycerin mixture, or mineral water, or Evian(these are the things I've heard people use).

basak, I don't use moisturizer but recently I've been washing my face with water before I put the powder on and that seems to have helped things :D But you are exactly right, it does look like you've been baking with lots of flour hehe :)

I might be stabbing in the dark here but I think that pressed powder is mostly talc based and used for spot shine control. You may need to look at a pressed powder foundation to get the best results? If you have pressed powder foundation it might contain lots of talc as well and if you switch to a mineral one it should help too.

Have a look for a mineral foundation that is either pressed or loose and this is generally accompanied by a soft kabuki brush so you can buff it into the skin.

Ah I see :) I'll look out for some mineral foundation (pressed or loose) but I struggle to find powder that is pale enough for me lol :D That's why I've stuck with the same brand for so long.

I'm not sure if it's readily available to you but my friend, with porcelain white skin, found Splash cosmetics not only had a white but a very pail shade that suits her. It's a loose powder. HTH.

SunCat's (http://www.suncatnaturalmineralmakeup.com/foundations.html) got some "very fair" shades (scroll down to the bottom). With mineral makeup you might also be able to mix a powder that's too dark with a white powder to get a shade that works for you.

Seconding the SunCat recommendation. If nothing looks light enough, you might try emailing her for suggestions.

The Bodyshop does an all in one face base that comes in a very pale shade, that is not too pinky either. It gives a nice coverage if you layer it, or a nice sheer finish. It's a product I really love for my pale skin
