When I go to the User CP and click on "Buddy/Ignore Lists," I have a regular Buddy List and a Beauty Blog Buddy List. What's the difference?
Is it possible for other people to view my buddy list, or for me to see which people have me on their lists? I thought I ran across some people's lists a couple days ago, but I don't remember what I clicked on. (If you can see my list and you're not on it, don't be offended. I just added a couple test cases. :) )

And how are you linked to someone? Because I'm linked to people and don't know how I got linked to them because I didn't click anything.
ETA: Not trying to steal your thread physicschick I just figured it would be easier to ask it here because it is kindof in the same area.

Ah, I think I figured part of this out now! At each of my posts, below the avatar and such, there's a link for "physicschick's Friends Network" that shows my buddy list and another list entitled "Is linked to." The linked people must be people who put me on their buddy lists.
(Still wondering about the Beauty Blog Buddy Lists, though.)

Well, for the Beauty Blogs, there is an option to make an entry viewable only to your buddies. I guess that would be what the Beauty Blog Buddy List is for. I don't know why it should be different from the regular Buddy List though...

Your buddy list is public. I've read that the ignore list is private, though I've not personally tested this.
You can be linked to a person or you can link to a person OR you can be mutually linked and your buddy network page will show that.
The Beauty Blog Buddy List is for those people you want to grant access to protected blog entries (think: friends only entry).
Does that help? :)

Thank you, Steph. Makes sense. I think the Beauty Blog Buddy list could be a very useful feature.
Now I'm wondering what the regular buddy list is for. I noticed it could be used for sending PMs. Is that its sole purpose?

Now, if you do a completely private entry in the blog, can the mods read it?

I know that (at least at LHC) the buddy-names show up for me with a little sign by their name, so I can see which of my buds are online at that point. Like TBear, for instance: I can see when she's online because there's a little plus-sign by her name. I am not sure how things works for normal members, though -- for instance, can they see their buddies as being online, even if the buddies are in stealth-mode?
If y'all want, I can go ignore a coupla people and you can see if they show up for you to see, "Hey, Lisa has so-n-so on ignore! Wonder why?" ;)

Icy, I can read it (it just comes up automatically for me), but I don't believe that the mods can. I will double check for you.

I was just curious how private private is ;) Thanks Stephanie!
