So I've been thinking about trying WO on my body, but thanks to years of product conditioning I have a hard time grappeling with the idea of not using anything on the body. :purplex:
As I was in my shower today I found a bottle of in shower lotion that I had bought a while ago and never finished, so since i was feeling dry today I slapped some on. Which got me thinking that maybe using only in-shower lotion would be the equivilant to COing. Think it would work, or am I just asking for clogged pores and breakouts? I checked the ingredients and the stuff is loaded with cones, so I don't know...

Just thought I'd say that your skin cells shed so I wouldn't worry about cones in the lotions building up. I have a out of shower body lotion I use a lot and teh cone is way down the list. I also rarely use soap on my body...I only use it when I am really dirty like if I get mud all over me dirty. Well, and if my armpits are really sweaty from exercising. :sweatdrop: But this is because I have eczema and yeah...soap makes my skin worse! So I pretty much WO and add a lotion when I get out of the shower. But I think using a shower lotion is fine.
I usually use a soap product on my face...but I decided to do something different and now I love it. I used kimberlily's defrizz receipe on my face and I didn't think it would actually remove my makeup. :boggle: So now I think I will use that for my face. :whoohoo:
ETA: I also do not wear deoderant...I am mostly lazy and a bit thinking it is bad to begin with. I believe it's been linked to breast cancer. :boggle:

Have been using a modified ocm for body skin. Which is the evoo/castor oil mix, with hydrated bentonite and red sandalwood powder added. Mostly just use with a washcloth, but I do leave it on my pits for most of the shower, which seems to take care of all potential for odors. Haven't needed to use deodorant since I have been washing this way. I don't like lotions at all, and am more inclined to do an all over oiling with cheap coconut oil if I would feel dry. Followed by a mermaid soak, and then a shower to rinse off. Not that I'd have time for all of that, except when the kids are off on a visitation. Or if I get them to bed on time and want a long bath type procedure. But the oil/bentonite/sandalwood mixture is my regular shower wash stuff, which I use most every shower.

I wonder if you can use conditioner to wash? When I shave my legs with conditioner, there are little bubbles when I rinse.

You might want to look out for cyclopentasiloxane in the lotion. I remember every single face lotion or conditioner I had with that ingredient would clog my face & back pores :stress:

I do this to wash my pits when I've had a sweaty day. Works beautifully every time, and doesn't dry my skin out like soap does. I also remove makeup with lotion nowadays (though I add a drop or two of tea tree oil), and my face never flakes now.

I thought about doing that too, cause it would be cheaper than the lotion. I think I'm going to try doing this combined with dry brushing, that way my skin will get exfoliated too. I'll let you know how it goes.

Conditioner works great too, my skin gets rather silky from it, but watch out if you have sensitive skin. Some people can get reactions from conditioner, but you don't think about it as much when you're just putting it on your hair. It still works better than soap for me, though. And don't forget to read the label! I have a very faint emory of Snowy using conditioner to wash her body with, but I might be wrong.

I don't know about using conditioner specifically, but when my skin is being REALLY REALLY sensitive, I use a Lush Aqua Mirablis bar as my 'soap'- it's basically a moisturiser bar with ground almonds in for exfoliation- then rinse off, then follow up with a leave-on moisturiser, and it worked fantastically. (You do ahve to have some exfoliation going on, though, either in the product itself or with a washcloth, or you tend to just get kind of buildup.)
I did also use a tea tree shower gel in my armpits and so on, but overall it was MUCH easier on my skin than using a shower gel or soap all over.

I do. I have washed my face and bod with water and conditioner (about 2 times per week) only for about 2 years now. I am rather happy with the results. :grinhappy: My skin is not as picky as my hair, so the conditioners that do not work for my hair get used for this. I love Suave Vanilla Sugar. It leaves my skin nice and smells so good. :grinhappy: I apply the conditioner, massage it in, add some water to "suds" it up, and then I use a soaking-wet wash cloth to exfloiate and then rinse. Occasionally I will mix brown sugar and honey in with the conditioner for a scrub. Nice.
I love to dry brush before washing too. Dry brushing is da bomb for my skin. :whoohoo:
I use clear aloe gel over soaking wet skin and then a small bit of shea butter over my face, neck and any rough spots. I use mineral makeup, and using the shea underneath has kept it from drying out my skin so much.
This has been working really well for me.
