We are cottaging in Prince Edward Island, a family traditon for us. We may also drive to New Hampshire, US, depending on the Cdn dollar. What are you all doing this summer? I like to live vicariously through other's vacationing:lafhard:

I'm going to Hawaii with my best friend and her family on Friday and will be there until the 22nd. My family also might be taking a road trip to Colorado.
Plus we'll be taking assorted camping trips, bike trips and day trips.

Right now I'm in Michigan baby sitting my brother's two dogs while they are gone on their vacation. I visited one of my good friends in Detroit for a couple of days before I came here and then when my brother gets home next week I have a little LHC meet planned at Enchantress. Other summer plans are maybe to go to the truck race in Kansas City and we'll get to see our son. I'm seeing him this coming weekend when they race at MIS in Brooklyn MI. I think that's it for the summer other than day trips with my girlfriends.

Well I'm at my boyfriend's parent's house relaxing for the summer :lafhard:
I don't think we'll be making any special trips but for me, just being here is a vacation. Gosh..just being anywhere without having to do work/school is a vacation (duh =p)
Snowbear- Hawaii.. *drool* I've always wanted to go to Hawaii. Though if I had a choice of a trip to Hawaii and a trip to Europe...I'd probably choose Europe- depending on where in Europe :gurn:

Hey Wave, I would love to get to P.E.I. I've been an Anne of Green Gables fan since I was a wee lass and always wanted to go there. A few years ago we drove across Canada and tried to get to the island but there were some forest fires there or something going on and people were being asked not to travel into there at that time. Please take lots of pictures and tell me all about it when you get back. I am so jealous.

If you swing through Delta, Colorado, stop at the Stockyards restaurant and I'll buy you guys a piece of pie!

I'm actually off work this week, and pretty much relaxing at home, which I really enjoy!! I am taking two weeks off in August, and plan to go with DH to Vegas for the weekend ( Gotta Love Buffets!) Planning on spending some time on our boat, fishing and, working on it ( never ending work). May even go into Mexico for a day trip. We would also like to go to drive up to Big Bear, time permitting of course.

We haven't had a real (travel somewhere) vacation in years. This year we decided to go to some of the State Parks here in Oklahoma. Can't afford to go very far. But I love State Parks and OK has a lot of them. :whoohoo:

We go to a family summer house in New Harbor, Maine. We're going the first week of July. I love it there. I'd like to get to Memphis this summer, but my parents are coming to visit us in a few weeks. And DH is not keen on being in Memphis in August.
Next summer I want to go to New Orleans, but I might have to go by myself. I live with a bunch of New England heat-phobes. For me the hotter the better, but... :pissed:

I work in a small office and we can't afford to take more than two days off at a time :depressed: . I haven't had a "week off" in over 9 years.
I guess my "vacations" will have to be when my best friend and I go to Dallas to see two concerts this summer - in a few weeks we're seeing Chicaco/Huey Lewis and The News and in August we're seeing The Dave Matthews Band. I'm not complaining one bit - both of these concerts are lifetime dreams and my friend and I are the best road-trip warriors in the world - it's always a blast with her. But you guys that have the summer off or get a week's vacation somewhere pretty sure make me jealous!!!!!

We've already had our 'away from home' vacation this year. The remaining four weeks we'll be spending at home, doing more remodeling.
We spent two weeks, split between Oklahoma and Arkansas. Here's (http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b168/justgreen_/CykFishing.jpg) what Cyk did. What a guy!:lafhard: He took his nephew (http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b168/justgreen_/CykandLeviscatch3May2006.jpg) with him and they caught their limit on each kind of fish they went after.
Here's (http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b168/justgreen_/JaidynHunterBabySamApril2006.jpg)why I went to Oklahoma. :soppy:
I'm going to try to make it to Cody the first part of August , to rondevous with Speedy, and possibly LisaJaney, she of the trampy toes!:cheesy:

Yes, exciting! And exhausting...
I spent the afternoon packing--what a chore! Dust allergy is killing me :whyme: . I hope to be in this new place for a *long* time.
I think I'll be more excited when we actually get there.

*wind is sitting smack dab in the middle of iowa, grousing because she is not going on vacation*
I strongly doubt I'll be going anywhere is summer. Dad has used up all his vacation time going to doctor visits, and I can't drive. I was supposed to go to Colorado for a wedding in July, but that doesn't look like it's going to work out. :gurn:

I used to love that show when I was younger.
...and I admit if I find it on anywhere (can be difficult) now I'll sit down and watch it if I have the time.
You need to give Ms. Frizzle a call...think of something educational about it so the kids can go on a field trip :calm:

I just found this thread again and thought it would be fun to tell you all that I'm going to Florida next week. Yay! DH and I are going to spend a week with my grandma and just do nothing. We might cruise a couple flea markets and Grandma wants to go see a polka band. Otherwise, nothin' but veggin'!

Lucky Saracuda. I would love to go somewhere a little warmer now. DH is having lovely days in South Africa of +28C in the day and +18 C at nights.
I am having -28 C days here and -35C nights here.
I'd take almost anywhere warm at the moment.

I, my hubby, and our five-year-old daughter are going to Branson, MO in July. His father is turning 75 and is having a mini-reunion. So us, his parents, his sister, and sister's two kids. In one condo. But hey! They're paying!

We spent 4 days with my SIL's family who came to Florida from Illinois tramping around the Disney parks in Orlando and 1 day swimming with the manatees in Crystal River, Florida during January.
We'll be spending almost 2 full weeks of June with the same family down in the Florida Keys. They love Florida, so we're happy to see other parts of the state with them. I love getting away!

We are going to South Wales tomorrow, for a week with DH's folks. I'm really hoping this will be ok as I am very nervous about going anywhere at the moment and this will be the furthest I have been in several months.
It is a very pretty area, near the Gower Penninsula, with little bays and seaside places. DH has had a stressful few weeks at work (the roof blew off!!) and so we are really just going to eat, walk and sleep somewhere other than here. Lots of space for all those things. We had hoped to go away to South Norfolk in April, but classes have put paid to that! Some friends of ours have a chalet on a holiday park there. It's very 1950's, but it's also very peaceful, very family orientated and right on the edge of the Broads, so very pretty and old fashioned. Hopefully though, some friends are coming down from the North East, so we will have a "holiday at home" with them, which will also be very nice.
