View Full Version : static = dryness???

I recently re-introduced shampoo (with conditioner of course, lol) back into my routine, after experimenting with a variety of washing techniques over the past year or so.
I have been useing Tresemme Vitamin E shampoo and conditioner, and in general my hair looks and feels pretty good. By pretty good, I mean that there are pros and cons- for example my hair has more volume, and isn't stringy, but I am concerned that it may be getting dried out. My first indication of this is that I am having a bit of a static problem, which I didn't have previous to return to a S&C routine.
So after all that preamble, my question is: is static an indicator that my hair is getting dry? Or is it something else, and I shouldn't be worried about it?
Any and all advice is appreciated!:whyme:

May I ask why you went back to Shampoo and Conditioning? and what were you doing before that?

rachel,
well, I was sort of alternating between scalp washing and COing. I decided to just S&C because it had been quite a while since I had done only that, and I was kind of curious to see how it would work for me. Scalp washing worked quite well for me, so I thought what the heck, S&C is simple and affordable. :eureka:
So yes, curiousity and lazyness were basically my reasons :cheesy:

Yes, static is an indicator of dryness. I used to have horribly staticky hair in the wintertime before I joined LHC.

If you want to continue using shampoo try different approaches: CWC instead of SC, different shampoo, diluted shampoo, wash less frequently, alternate with CO. Did you have a set routine at all before returniing to shampoo?

Calista,
That's what I thought...back to the drawing board, I guess!
I didn't have a set routine before returning to S&C. I have been a little erratic the past 6 months or so, trying to find a good alternative to herbal washing (which I abandoned due to problems with availability of appropriate herbs in my part of the world).
Thanks for your help!:grinhappy:

Hi Amalthea!!! You might try spritzing your hair every day with a home made concoction. This really helps me with static. I use about 6 ounces of water, 4-5 drops of jojoba oil (or which oil you prefer), 4-5 drops of peppermint EO and about 1/2 teaspoon of a cone-free conditioner.

Your hair is growing fast and looking really really nice!:geek:

Oooh...thanks for the recipe Justgreen! Do you think I could use coconut oil in it?
Thanks for the compliment too! You are so sweet. :kitty: :soppy:

I'm sure coconut oil would be wonderful in it! Just be sure to shake it well before spritzing.

You were my first hair buddy here, very special to me.:flower: :p
