Anyone want to recommend a vitamin to stimulate hair growth for someone (me) who doesn't currently take any suppliments? Please go easy on my budget, if at all possible.

GNC sells an excellent hair vitamin. I think it's called Ultra Nourishair or something similar. Also, Biotin, MSN and silica are said to be good for the hair. :)

You could also find tons of hair vitamins at online shops for much cheaper, I'm sure. HTH!

I've found that taking GNC's Women's Ultra Mega helps. I ran out for awhile and just replaced them with a bottle of Centrum, and I just didn't feel that the Centrum helped as much. No real empirical data to show, just a feeling.

The one thing that has stood out for me is taking omega oil capsules. They helped with the shine and quality of growth in my hair. I think the Ultra Nourishair is a good idea but also take something that will add lustre, shine, and softness to your hair. And besides omega oils are great for the skin as well!

I was at GNC the other day and almost bought the GNC's Ultra Nourish. For those taking them; Have you notice more hair growth, or what? Thanks, Im currently looking for a hair vitamin too.

Curly Care I swear by Bcomplex vitamins, all those others are bonuses but my hair was falling out by the handfuls and until I started taking the Bcomplex, easily and cheaply available at the drugstore, my hair was thinning dramatically.

My hairdresser recommended it to me after she started shedding and someone recommended it to her and she told me that after a week, she noticed her thinning slow and within a month it stopped. I went out and bought some and within a week for me too, I saw the difference in shedding and between that and my oiling, massaging and a change in hair care, my hair is growing in thick again with no shedding.

It can't hurt to start there and if you don't notice a difference within a month, then start to add on some of the other vitamin suggestions. It's definitely worth a try.

It's not cheap...so to each his own....but these are easy to swallow, I don't have to take a lot of them---the bottle says 2 per day, but I get by with one per day....and it helps with my back pain--due to the msm. Jessie, I'm happy to hear that Bcomplex Vitamins worked for you, just wondered if there was any particular reason, medcial condition? that was causing your hair to fall out?

WalMart carries a brand called "One Source Hair, Skin and Nails." It is exactly the same formula as "GNC Women's Hair Skin & Nails" but much less expensive.

Besides the One Source, I have taken GNC UltraNourishair (big and hard to swallow for me) and the GNC HS&N formula. All three help me with general wellness (I take quite a few other vitamins/herbs as well), but honestly, I don't see increased hair growth with any of them. I used to take additional biotin and MSM along with the One Source, but one day got the most intensely painful migraine headache -- they had to give me morphine to relieve it. I had never had a migraine before (and I'm not young), and since I had read online that either biotin or MSM could cause migraines (although I am not sure which if either was the cause), I definitely quit taking any extra of those.

I have taken GNC's Ultra Nourishair for a couple of years and to be honest, I have not noticed any difference either in hair growth or thickness. The only phenomenon that has affected thickness for me; there now is more snow on the mountain and those whites are a great deal thicker.

I believe that a well balanced diet, drinking lots of water, and regular exercise are the most beneficial.

Stess baby, major stress, after going to the doctor thrice and having several tests done, we put it down to hormonal changes and STRESS. I'm a healthy eater and have no illnesses and my genes on both sides are those of masses of thick hair until you hit your death bed, so it was quite alarming when it started to happen. The great thing is that it's all balanced out now just by diet, lifestyle and good hair care.

Oh that's too funny Love My Cop, I am terrified of rats, guinea pigs and gerbils but for some reason the small ones, the mice and hamsters don't really scare me too badly. My son and daughter begged us to bring us two home from the neighbor's brood a few years ago and at first I wouldn't touch them.
After a while I realized they were gentle, smart and funny. I used to have one favorite that I would sit on my bed every night with me for about a half an hour. This from the woman who won't let the dogs on the bed and thinks all animals are filthy.
The other one actually got depressed because my daughter wouldn't play with it or let it out very often, so it peed all over itself and stunk so badly and sat in the corner for days. I actually washed and blowdried and brushed the little thing and cleaned it's cage up to sparkling clean and put it in my son's room so that he could look after it as well as his little one.

I ended up adoring those little creatures and was so sad when they died. They were such gentle little lovely things.

I'd say start with a basic daily multivitamin/mineral, and a calcium supplement. These are inexpensive, and should make sure that you don't have any deficiencies of the basics. They're unlikely to cause problems, and may help.

Give that a go for a month or so. By then the regular LHC boards should be back up. Look up Bargello's (sp?) vitamin routine.

But I'd suggest adding one pill at a time for that routine, with a month between changes. That will let you know if you are having a problem with any of the supplements. For example, I found that biotin, while making my nails strong and possibly helping my hair, also aggravated my acne. If you start a bunch of things at once, or in quick succession, you'll never be able to figure out what helps or what may be causing problems.

So, what's noni juice? I've seen it at my local coop, but don't really know what it is, what it is supposed to do, how much one should take, and how it tastes.
