View Full Version : Wearing Hair Up All The Time

I've gotten into a good habit of wearing my hair up all the time. Last night I was asking hubby if it ever bothered him that I keep it up all the time especially since I'm growing it out and you'd think I'd want to leave it down if I'm trying to grow it longer.
But he said it doesn't matter to him whether I wear it up or down.
I did wear it down for a bit last night and at first it was really hot but then I got used to it and it wasn't so bad. I told hubby that right now it'd be hot to have it down but once it is winter it will be nice and keep me warm. :)

Yup, I wear my hair up almost all the time, too. However, my DH has a strong preference for it down :ooh:. He understands my reasons for putting it up, but it's so cute when he asks 'um, can you wear your hair down for <whatever>?'.
With the heat, wearing hair up is even more comfortable. The 'personal AC' (aka damp bun) is cooler than even a short hairstyle.

My bf has a thing for those big, intricate buns, but he still likes it down. So it's a win-win for him!:lafhard:

My boyfriend is alot older than me, so he likes it when I wear my hair down as, apparently, I look alot younger with my hair down. lol :purplex:

I currently have no husband, boyfriend, or SO. I wear my hair the way I like, which is up, or back (in a braid) all the time.

During the winter, I wear my hair down or in a half-up most of the time. With summer heat and humidity, I am now in updo mode and will probably not wear my hair down (at least not to work) until September! :lafhard:

Up-dos are great for me in the summertime. In fact, last night was the first time in a long time I went to bed without putting my hair up in a top bun. Taking a new med and it made me loopier than normal and I fergot.:gurn: You are right, it is cooler than a shorter haircut would be.

Updos are necessary for me in all weather types. In the summer, it's obvious why, but in the winter, the hair's gotta be up to prevent the awful tangling that would occur due to scarves, ear muffs, and bulky coats. In spring and summer, it needs to be up anyway, as those are busy work seasons, and I want to keep pollen and leaves out of my hair (bugs, too :gurn:), as well as keep my hair out of the bushes! Of course, I like updos because I don't want to step on my hair all the time, either! :boggle:

I've been wearing my hair up a lot lately and there really has been no reason due to weather or activites. I think I should wear it down more because Roberta told me over the weekend I look like I'm about 40 with my hair down :whoohoo: So I'm going to have to rethink the bunnaging.

Well I don't really care what Eric thinks about my hair being up or down, I mean he's had long hair before he knows how hot it can get. :)

I do updo's more for function these days. if it's hot, or it's just getting in my way, or it is windy, I'll pull it up. but i like wearing my hair loose most of the time. unless there is a reason (like the aforementioned ones) mine is down & loose. (especially on wash day when my waves are curliest:grinhappy: )
Nothing solves a bad hair day like a hairstick!

Of course my hair is just shoulder length so I don't get as hot as the lovely long hairs but I wear mine equally up and down it seems. DH loves it any which way, so it's all good.

I wear my hair up (or tied back) all of the time as well. The only time it's all down is when it's drying. My hair is just too hot to wear down.
My DH doesn't give a hoot whether it's up or down, he just wants me to be comfy. :D

I prefer wearing my hair down, however, I know that for me wearing it down all the time spells damage , since I have fine, and fragile hair. My DH also likes my hair down, but he also likes it when I do messy up do's, he says they look very sexy on me. Glad he likes messy up-dos, because I can't do a decent up do to save my life!

I get in different moods. Sometimes I'll wear my hair up almost constantly, and sometimes (like recently) it's almost always down.
However, it is hot outside (stupid summer :evileye: ) so whenever I go outside it's up or the risk of heat stroke due to hair :geek:
I am pretty sure the bf prefers it down, but he has never really said as much. Oh yeah..he likes the high ponytail thing =p
But I wear it however I feel like wearing it, of course.
.... which changes through out the day. I rarely go through a day with my hair staying the same all day long whether I start with it in an updo or down.

My hair is too long to wear down very often. It tangles very easily and it needs to be protected more often.
I also have a DH and I wear my hair as I please. He cares more about me than my hair.

I used to wear my hair up all the time due to straightening and overheating damage. Now that it is more healthy, I can wear it like I want and I love it almost every way! :lafhard: Hubby loves the variety, up, down, half-up whatever. I guess I should not wear it down so much to protect it but a lot of the time updos give me headaches.

I wear my hair up most of the time, bun or braid. I'm not used to wearing it down. The most I can usually tollarate for a full day is a half up. I think my BF likes it down but is content with it being up since it tries to attack him.

I wear my hair up all the time, since I don't very much like how it looks down at the moment (stupid layer :evileye:). No one cares what my hair looks like, except my mum, and she just wants me t wash it more often. :rain:

:lafhard: Good one!!!!!!!
Mine is mostly up anymore. It would get in the way for work and at home my little sister gets stuck in it and pulls it :purplex: . Sometimes I will wear it in one or two braids on a non works day. Less often I will do a low pony, and rarely I will wear it down. Spring and fall are good "down" times as it isn't humid, but I am not wearing staticy damaging sweaters. :boggle:

I wear mine up almost all the time because it's so hot and it tangles so when it's down. I'm also self-conscious about my nasty, scraggly ends. :purplex: Plus I'm a big old hairtoy ho, so I need updos to justify my collection. :parp:

I wear my hair when I don't what to deal with it or it's really humid. The only time I can put my hair up is when it is halfdry-halfwet. I wear it up all day then when I unfurl my bun. It looks like I've been at the beach all day.

My hubby likes my hair down mainly, or in half-up styles. And that is how i normally wear it for going out and around the house because I prefer it that way. At work though, i wear it up to keep it out of the way.
On a side note, I love Carolyn's verb for making a bun, bunnaging!!! That's great!!! It really made me laugh!!

My very-fine hair is prone to tangling if it's down for long. Today, however, I let it down during the tail-end of both workouts I attended. Both times I got compliments (rare occurence for me; my hair is thin anyhow, but also VERY fairytale) and that was nice. Then, when we got home, Dave said he was glad to see I'd put my hair down at the end of workout; he then said "I like it down."
He never has voiced a preference; he'd be happy either way. When I say "gee whiz, my hair sucks", he'll say "Honey, I think it's beautiful, and you enjoy it, so that's all that matters. Let's just enjoy it" and that's that.
So, tonight I wore it down all evening. I'm sure I'll have some detangling to do before bed, but oh well. The price we pay for love, ya know? ;)

I wear mine up 99% of the time. Partly because it is good for my hair, but mostly because I have a 9 month old son whom I've affectionately nicknamed "the hair puller". The boy can find the single strand of hair that missed being put up, and man does he pull! I usually wear Heidi braids at night, and he makes a point of giving them a good yank first thing in the morning
DH prefers my hair down, or at least in a half-up, but I think that's partly because I have iii hair that isn't quite long enough to do most updos, so by the time he comes home from work, my hair is a mess

I told hubby that right now it'd be hot to have it down but once it is winter it will be nice and keep me warm. :)This is so true! I think you'll be grateful for long hair once the cold weather sets in. It's like having your own personal blanket wrapped around you 24/7. :grinhappy:

Usually, I just wear it down. It's a lot easier than trying to get it up, most days. Especially since I outgrew most of my old styles and am still just trying to find new easy/cute styles.
Though, with it being so hot, I usually stick it up at some point during the day. Usually some kind of easy fakkare twist.
As for what my boyfriend thinks, well, I've never really bothered to ask. Honestly, I don't think he cares. He seems to compliment me no matter what. He likes me without bangs, but when I cut them last week, he loved that too. When I wear it half up, he says he likes how I look. When I wear it down he touches it and says it's pretty. When it's all up, he says he likes the style. I've never been too concerned... even when my over-controling ex wanted a specific style I never bothered to do what it was he wanted. My current boyfriend has kind words no matter what, though.
However, when I know I'll be seeing him, lately I use my Vo5 champange kiss conditioner. He thinks it smells like jelly beans. Every time I use it he says I smell good  I love the smell too, so I don't mind :)

I enjoy wearing my hair up a lot more than I used to. I have so many pretty hair toys now and I enjoy using them. I'll consider the weather and my planned activities for the day in deciding between up and down. Now that it's summer it's up almost all the time. It's the easiest and more comfortable for me. I'm real big on comfort and easy in about everything I do.

I wear my hair up most of the time. Like others here, I have a collection of hair toys I enjoy using!
Occasionally, I will wear my hair down. But it's usually a planned thing, when I want to do a wavy/curly day. If I don't plan it that way, I think it looks ragged and not very nice.
DH likes my hair when it's down. That's usually when I get compliments from him.
Most days, an updo is the most practical style.

My BF hasn't expressed an opinion on up v. down. He doesn't seem to care much, though he gets sick of pulling a shed hair in random places. Too many 3 foot hairs in the underpants, or the socks, or wherever else. :gurn:

Fiancé actually prefers my hair down, but he knows how much I struggle with keeping track of it, so he doesn't mind that I keep it up most of the time. He's a gem though - if I come up with an interesting, spur of the moment updo that looks cool, he's always more than willing to photograph it for me.

At work, I pretty much have to wear it up. Completely. :depressed: I did wear it in a braid one night I was working in a different area, but as I'm generally working around a machine/machines that suck in stuff I think my braid constitutes 'unconstrained long hair'. :boggle: Forget braids, buns are my friend. :ooh:
And...no hubby, SO or BF, so at home my hair is usually at least part down. Either a bun with a tail or a braid of some sort. Or, yes, down...although I'm trying to avoid that too much as I'm sitting on my ends way too often. I'll also do buns, especially if it's warmer, but I'm trying to back off on those right now due to it being my staple updo for work and at least do different ones at home.
And as I've never even had a BF, SO, etc. no clue on that. If I ever snag one (doesn't seem at all likely), hopefully he'll like my hair however I wear it. :innocent:

I love wearing it up during the day and down at night. My last boyfriend didn't like long hair and loved it when I wore it up. I wore it up for myself, though, as it was really hot and I was still growing it out and trying to keep it in good shape. I still wear it up because it protects it, but I take it down when I want to feel really feminine.

This reminds me when I go to bed and simply take my hair down from its updo right before my head hits the pillow. By morning, sometimes I don't know where my hair is. So I'll say to him to be careful, because "I don't know what my hair is doing right now," in all seriousness. Sometimes it creeps under the pillow.

:boggle: You sleep with your hair loose? I recently have started this out of laziness. I also lose track of my hair overnight, but I have much less to lose track of. I try to keep it plopped up and over my pillow, but it always wants to change position on me. :ooh:
