Hi everyone,

I just started OCM two days ago. I'm using about 30% Castor Oil and 70% EVOO. These past few days I've had a greater number of break outs than I usually have. Is this common when starting OCM or is it just not something that seems to be working for my skin? I usually have pretty sensitive skin with a bit of redness (possibly rosacea). Please help! :purplex: Thank you!

It could be the impurities working their way out from your pores. I have sensitive skin, too, with rosacea, and OCM is fine for me. You could try using less castor oil. Of the two, the castor is the more cleansing of the two. Most times, I just use olive oil alone.

"Most times, I just use olive oil alone"

Thanks for that statement Raederle! I tried OCM last night for the first time after reading all I could find about it on here...all I had in my cupboard was EVOO so thats what I used and it worked amazingly well! My kids were all snuggled down for movie night so I took a hot bath and spent several minutes massaging the oil in (although I don't know if I did it long enough...how long do you massage for ?) and then just used the hot bath water to steam it. When I got out and looked in the mirror, I was amazed to see stuff at the surface of my skin! I must admit, I was so excited about it, that I did it again just to see what would come out! (hope that's not bad, to do it twice like that) This morning my face feels really nice and I think in my shower I will just do warm water only.

Thanks to everyone for all the great info on here!

Aw, that's wonderful. It sounds as though you developed a great routine. I never thought of steaming in the bath, but that seems a terrific idea.

As for how long to massage ... who knows? I don't think you can overdo it, and I'm pretty sure that a minute or two is enough for some results, as I've done it for that period before. I try to concentrate on the areas that have plugged pores. Certainly there seems to be no downside to your experience so cheers to you.

If you are prone to rosacea, and I am, don't use a hot cloth on your face. The steaming in the bath is a great idea!

I told my husband about my new face treatment and his reaction was: "You washed your face in oil....are you mad?" Which I thought was pretty funny! But, then he asked if he should do it since he complains about blackheads as well....I'm assuming that guy's skin is pretty much the same and he would reap the same benefits as me...anyone else have a guy that's using OCM?

There is nothing wrong with a guy trying OCM, we all have skin and blackheads!
