View Full Version : Morning Face Washing?

At some point within the past 5 years or so, I pretty much stopped washing my face in the morning. It just didn't seem as though there was that great a need, even though I exercise in the morning. It seems as though a thorough rinsing following exercise, with a cold water rinse at the end, is enough.

Now, of course, when I was younger, and facing acne issues and my skin was oilier, I did need to cleanse in the morning. But when I awaken now, my face feels normal, whatever the heck that is.

Just curious if anyone else has found that as they got, hmmm more seasoned, the face washing routine changed.

I only wash my face in morning in the shower. I use the same bar of soap on my face as I do on my body. I figure there is so much other stuff I put on my face post-shower that I am not doing my face a major disservice using the bar or soap.

I wash once a day too, in the shower. I alternate between honey and Dr. Bronner's, the unscented baby version to which I have added a few drops of lavender essential oil.

Definitely my skin prefers benign neglect more and more as I get older.

I just "wash" my face with water in the mornings. I don't think my face gets THAT much dirt on it while I am sleeping. Or I hope not anyway. haha And in the evenings I OCM or wash with a facial cleanser (whichever I have the time/energy for) to get the day's yuckies and makeup off.

I do OCM at night to cleanse my face and to remove my make up. In the morning I usually just do WO. If I'm feeling particularly greasy in the morning I'll use one of my Serious Skin Care cleansers. For years and years I used the Clinique yellow facial bar morning and night.

It's actually a welcome relief to see others doing the easy morning thing. I use filtered water, and sometimes after I pat dry, my skin feels so soft that it's tempting to just forego the moisturizing step. I'm pretty sure, though, that it would be a major mistake, especially since it's so dry at work.

I usually WO my face in the morning, but sometimes if I'm really oily, I'll use a mix of my biore salicylic acid cleanser with a few drops of cranberry HA serum (which is what I use at night). Full biore dries me out. Sometimes it gets so hot here I sweat at night so I *want* to wash my face in the morning.

My routine has changed over the years, too. I do wash my face morning and night, even if only with water. I splash at least 20 times; have for years, for whatever that's worth! The only time I use a cleanser (Burt's Bees orange facial cleanser) is to clean off makeup or when I use a mask or exfoliant (baking soda). It's working great!

In the morning I usually just wash my face in the shower, using a moisturising body wash all over. Sometimes, though, my eyes are very sticky when I wake up and I need to rinse them first, before doing anything else. I think that happens if there's some makeup or oil residue left over from the night before.

I just wipe my face in the morning to get rid of all the oils that built up while I slept. I stopped washing my face in the morning a long time ago because I didn't wake up with enough time. Now I try to shower in the morning but I don't use cleansers anymore because I find they're too harsh and drying on my skin so I've started using something similar to the OCM method.

I still get acne, but it's better than it used to be. I don't know how much of that's due to changing skin conditions as I age, but I finally figured out a few years back that my face does better overall if I don't use soap on it. It gets WO in the evening if I've thought to moisturize (coconut oil, sometimes w/aloe) and whenever I shower, but otherwise I just leave it alone. It only gets soap if I know I've come in contact with something WO won't get off, or if it's itchy.

(ETA: I don't usually wear makeup and have only used MMU a couple of times so far to try it out, not sure yet whether I was successful at completely removing that with WO.)

I wash my face at night. I can put something on it (when I remember  ) and let it soak in all night. In the morning, I just rinse with water since I haven't been out in the world collecting dust and pollen on my face all day. :D

I have very pale skin that is sensitive to just about anything, but within a week of using pure olive oil (OCM method), the acne and redness from my sensitive skin vanished. My face glows now, and it feels very soft. I did use the olive oil with a bottle of Olay (the pink one).

I think that we've all seemed to find that a thorough cleansing at night, combined with a clean pillowcase, makes for a more streamlined morning routine.

I just use plain warm water in the morning.

I wash my face in the morning when I remember, or when I feel that I need to. Mostly it gets wiped with a damp washcloth, and then I put either aloe or moisturizer on it. Either way, it seems to do fine.

I shower in the morning, so sometimes I use the same shower gel on my face, or sometimes just water. Depends on how my skin feels.

I wash OCM evenings and steam my face, so mornings I either WO wash or don't bother.

Since adding castor oil to my OCM, my skin is looking GREAT. Blackheads are still there, but rosacea has diminished, brown spots are less visible, and my overall complexion has that 'roses and cream' look again it used to have! :D
