My jojoba oil went from being a deep yellow color to a pale yellow color, and now it's clear! Is it still okay to use it? When I sniff it, I don't smell anything too objectionable, but never really loved the smell of jojoba oil in the first place.

I use this in my hair which is why I posted the question in this topic. Hope it's in the right place.

Okay so I'm hijacking because I don't know the answer to your question. But I have my own question =p

If it smells bacon-y does that mean it's gone bad?? Because I brought my jojoba with me from _college town_ to _boyfriend's parent's house_ and at first it seemed okay..then the little bit that was in the dropper bottle smelled bacony so I cleaned it out and refilled (stuff in regular bottle had seemed fine) but then that smelled bacony too. Honestly this is probably a stupid question because I haven't used the jojoba since because I feel like it's probably bad..or at least bad for me..I don't like the smell :(
But I suppose I'm looking for confirmation if it is bad, and..uh..whatever the word would be if it's not.

And an answer to the OP's question would bee good too :gurn:

I bought my oil the other day and it goes "bad" in 12/07. I figure you have about 1.5-2 years to use it. Something might be leaking into that one bottle?

Mine did the color change thing too, I'm assuming it's because the temperature came up for the summer. I could be wrong though.

I wonder if the temperature change is true. It's always very warm here and the bottle of jojoba oil I used to have was clear, or at most a barely distinguishable pale yellow. No pungent odors as far as I can remember.

Jojoba has a pretty long shelf life. Is the bottle in an area where sun can hit it? The color change might be from sun exposure or heat, but I've never had that happen with mine yet.

Thanks cichlid! :lafhard:

I suppose I can feel safe in using mine, and the possibility of something getting into the other bottle is one that I hadn't thought of but makes sense.

Thanks for the answers.

And, Enitsirk, I'm not sure if yours has gone bad, but I don't know that I would like my hair smelling like bacon.

Heheh..I don't want my hair smelling like bacon either, but I don't think it has the smell in the big bottle. I'm thinking there is something up with the smaller one, like cichlid suggested :)
