I said this the other day jokingly, but seriously, my skin seems to be happy only when I use a kitchen sponge to exfoliate almost every day. Its the only time my MMU looks decent and my skin isnt peeling off all over my face.

Anyone else need to exfoliate WAY more than should really be necessary?

Well, no I can't say as I exfoliate more than about twice a week. But I'm sure I have a decade or two on you, so that could be part of it.

Is your skin otherwise not irritated or troubled? When you say kitchen sponge, I assume you mean the spongy part, which doesn't seem all that extreme. What is your skin care regime?

Like Raederle said I am assuming you mean just a plain sponge, not those scrubby ones which I guess is not that bad. If you do mean the scrubby sponges though - that does seem like too much to me. Everyone's skin is different though. But are you moisturizing enough? It could be that you need more moisture, not more exfoliating. Using moisturizer (or maybe a different one/more often) could help - and are you drinking enough water? Drinking plenty of water is also a very important part of keeping your skin moisturized.

No, I do mean the scrubby part... lol.
I use coconut oil or shea at night, and aloe or Sundrench in the morning.
I drink as much water as I can, I know its probably not enough, but I actually drink more now than I ever have before, and this is a recent problem.

It seems a bit extreme to me, but I might be envisioning a rougher surface than the one you're using. That said, if you skin keeps flaking, I'd think that indicates that there is some underlying issue.
