Hairspray? I don't need no stinking hairspray!

So, I was getting ready to go out, today and the wind was blowing. After putting my hair up, my first impulse was to reach for the hairspray. After all, I didn't want my little halo-ey hairs flying all over the place. Then it hit me, I have aloe gel. Why not use that, instead? So, I put a drop on my fingers, rubbed it a bit and smoothed it over my hair. I used a little extra in spots I know I get loose hairs and fly-aways. My hair was smooth and neat and there were no glued or stiff spots. I even fixed a spot where a bit of hair came poking out of my updo.

Result? Pretty darn good! I went out, did errands and so forth, in and out of my car in the wind and the AC going. Only a few hairs came loose. The rest of my 'do stayed neat and smooth.
It is nice to know that I can keep my hair looking nice and be doing something good for it at the same time.

(Still not ready to throw the hairspry away, yet.......... :parp: )

I have started using more aloe and less hairspray, too!!

I considered the sugar water recipe that is on TLHC but I can't bring myself to try it yet.

Awesome! While I still do use hairspray every now and then, I mostly take a pea sized amount of gel and smooth it over dry hair to tame strays and excess frizz... just like you do with your aloe. Works very well. :D

I've hate Hair Spray! I remember using it years ago. It made my hair stay in place, and look good, but when I would comb hair out, it would look so dull, lifeless, and really feel yucky dirty to the touch.

The main reason I stopped using hairspray is because it didn't really help my hair stay in place. It would fly around anyway. Also, I hate the way my hair feels when I have hairspray on it. I'm gonna get some aloe gel.:eureka:

I considered that recipe. For about ten seconds. We have a lot of wasps and
yellowjackets living in this area. Just what I don't want to attract to my head. :lafhard: :lafhard:

If I feel the need for hairspray, I use sugar mixed with water. It works really well, is practically free, and doesn't damage my hair :)
