View Full Version : Who else is victim to informercials?

I'll fess up. Hello, my name is Raederle, and I'm a skin care and makeup informercial junkie. I can't figure out what the attraction is, but I still watch them, and each time I wonder, "Will reclaim with airgerline really make a difference?" "If natural advantage works so well for Jane Seymour why not me?"
And I feel this way, even when I check out the ingredients, and see that they are basically the same I've been using in a different product.
So, c'mon, who else is a skin care and makeup informercial junkie?

I'll sit and watch them sometimes if there is nothing else to do and nothing else to watch.

I love infomercials and would probably buy everything advertised if I could. :lafhard:
I did buy BE mineral makeup from an infomercial. :grinhappy:

How do they make the product seem so appealing? I
I do have to credit the BE informercial with getting me interested in MMU, but I still watch the darn things, "oooh, look, here's a new one" It's just pathetic.

I hear ya Raederle.
Right now I want a Swiffer Sweeper (two for the price of one!), one of those steam floor cleaners, and numerous beauty products.
Thank goodness my back account won't let me do this. :lafhard:

I agree I want one of those floor steam cleaners - but $80 I knew I meant to check ebay for something! Yep Natural Advantage, Cindy Crawford Meaningful Beauty (that one got me), Sheer Coverage (returned blech!) and it all started with Principal Secret. (and I also started the Bare Minerals that way - then a store opened in my area.) The auto ship and reading many complaints about charges and impossible to cancel keep me from trying the new ones. Billy Mayes gets a channel change!
There is a wonderful site Make Up Alley that give reviews for most products. Before I try any new make up I check that site first.
By the way the renew/ aclaim broke out my face.

I want almost every product I've ever seen on an infomercial. But I'm especially susceptible to the small appliances and kitchen stuff; more so than the makeup. I really have to get those green produce bags that make your fruits and veggies last for ages. And one of those things that cuts open that ridiculous hard plastic packaging. I love infomercials. :grinhappy:

Never tried the Sheer Cover, though they do have the kits in Bed, Bath, & Beyond.
I got cured of some of the gadgets when I went into the As Seen on TV store in the mall. Seeing some of those products up close and personal makes it easier to dodge them.
But the skin care, and to a lesser extent, the makeup ones, always hold my interest.

Yup. My name is Vel and I'm a gullible infomercial watcher. If I had more money, I'd have a closet full of stuff. It's all so believable, isn't it? I'm worst at coveting the diet stuff and the jewelry. And the shapewear that makes you look 2 sizes smaller. And the BE makeup. The only thing that stopped me from buying BE was the auto order thing. I did buy the dryer lint clean up kit. For $20, I could have done just as well with the $5 lint filter brush they had at Bed, Bath and Beyond.
Sigh.

I've even saved the location in my Garmin :ooh: I love looking at all the stuff. Most of the time I am glad I passed on it. My favorite informercials are the make up and beauty care ones.

Though I do enjoy the Magic Bullet ones, where the neighbors just drop in, especially the one with the hair in a hairnet and smoking, my real favorites are the skin care and makeup ones.
It's just too tempting to think that maybe Natural Advantage has the answer, or perhaps Philosophy does. All this despite thinking in my gut that most of those products use the same magic ingredient.
And Vel, you can order the BE, which is a good deal for the brushes alone, then cancel. Of course, I'm currently considering that Suncat is the answer for me, and her prices are much lower. Remember the sample size is a mere $1.75.....

SunCat's MMU is good and she is an absolute doll! :soppy:

Amen to that, KK. I'm not looking elsewhere for MMU. I can't praise her too highly.
