Does anyone with sensitive eyes/allergies wear contact lens? What kind of mascara do you use? Does anyone wear water based mascara?:lafhard:

Hi Justgreen. :grinhappy: I have sensitive eyes and I wear contacts. I have always used Loreal Lashout. It is my all time fave. It never irritates my eyes. And it washes off easily.
I never use waterproof mascara. That stuff is concrete on lashes, as far as I am concerned. :p

I don't know if I'd call my eyes sensitive but I do have problems with eye allergies (to the point where at times I go with only one contact!) when the pollen season starts.
Anyway, I've been using L'oreal Voluminous for years. I've used both regular and the waterproof without any problems.

Try Clinique, some folks swear by it.

Does Macy's carry Clinique? I know Dillard's does, but we don't have a Dillard's here.

Shermie Girl, please tell me about this "washes off easily" mascara you mention. Does it need a makeup remover, does it leave raccoon eyes?
I used to have a GREAT mascara, Cover Girl's Long-n-Lush, and it washed off with water, making these little soft black curds (like teeny little black cottage-cheese curds) and NEVER leaving a black smudge under my eyes. They quit making it a decade ago and I call them EVERY year to beg them to reinstate it but they never do. They tell me about another mascara that they make...and I use it, but it leaves black rings unless I use Almay's eye makeup remover (not bad, but it does sting if you get it in your eyes.)
The stuff I use now (raccoon eyes, but not as bad as other brands) is a purple tube from Cover Girl. It's called Remarkable.
The other kind I use if I'm swimming is Kiss Me Creme; it's not an oil PAINT, but something different. It makes little TUBES on your lashes and washes off with just plain water. Twenty bucks a tube, though. When I wear it for very long, I swear my contacts dry out in the middle of the afternoon...

JUSTGREEN! You have the same number of posts as I do! Well, maybe not now. I think THIS ONE will pull me ahead! (so much for a quality post, huh!)

LisaJaney, Lashout mascara washes off easily with facial cleanser. I just get my face wet, wet my lashes to soften my mascara, then wash my face. I always do a second cleansing when I wear makeup to be sure I got it all off.
I don't use a seperate eyemakeup remover. That stuff stings and burns my eyes. :pissed:
Thanks for the heads up about the mascara that forms little tubes, I was thinking about trying it. Now, I don't think I will waste my money.

Crap, you're ahead of me.
I got this last tube (still unopened) in the last BallBeauty Order. It's good stuff, really, but I have to do more experimenting to see if it's just my imagination or if the days I wear it my contacts really DO get really dry mid-afternoon.

I'm one of the folks who swears by clinique mascara. I actually punked out and bought some Revlon a while ago, and it's just sold me on Clinique more. It doesn't clump or rub off easily (even the non-waterproof stuff) and never irritates my eyes. Macy's does carry it, and if you hit 'em at free gift time and buy two things their free gifts are great.

Ohhh thank you unaspenser! :flower: I'll try to hit the mall this next weekend and see what Macy's has. I've never visited their cosmetic counter. :gurn:

Have to check-back with this thread to report about the Kiss Me Creme mascara and my wondering if it made my eyes dry.
I wore it today and my eyes are FINE. No dryness at all, all day long. Kiss Me Creme is fine.
I THINK what made my eyes dry mid-afternoon was the cleaning solutions I was having to use. I LOVE LOVE LOVE CibaVision's AOSept. Apparently they were having some trouble with the formulation, because they pulled it and it's been out of stock for MONTHS. During that time, I had to use the one-step crap (thank God I didn't use the MoistureLock stuff that's caused such trouble) ANyhow, my contacts never did seem as clean, and they were DRY (to the point of folding up on my eyeball) in the afternoon. I had to remove them, rewet them, reinsert them, to get relief.
Now that AOSept is back on the shelf (Clear Care is what they're calling it now, I think) I'm SO much happier with my lenses. I was seriously thinking about just going back to glasses... Now I don't HAVE to!!

Oh yes, justgreen, playing at the cosmetics counter is lots of fun, especially if you can get them to put makeup on you!
