I keep reading about this. I have foundation, blush and concealer. Do I need this veil stuff too? I am gonna have to get an extra job! :boggle:

I could be wrong but I believe it's a finishing powder that you apply after you're done with everything else to "set" the makeup; and I'm fairly sure there are different formulas of veils to get a different finished look; like matte or glowy etc. I've never really bothered looking too much into them, but I'm pretty sure that's what they are.

Okay makes sense. I wonder if most people use them over the other mineral makeup or some don't?

Bare Minerals - Mineral Veil. They have foundation powder with pigments. The mineral veil is very light powder to finish and set the foundation powder. Note if you are over 35 be careful wearing this - check your make up in direct bright sunlight for a true look.

I use one! it's not so much for setting, as I don't think the MMU needs that, really. But it adds a nice, "air-brushed" look to my skin, that I really like.
Also, veils are usually universal - meaning, I use a specific colour of foundation, but there's only one colour of veil (although I do have another one, that's got a bit more "glow" in it, for going out at night).

Mineral veil is a BE product, used at the very end of the MMU application. It is a mix of cornstarch, zinc stearate, magnesium stearate, methylparaben, propylparaben, and iron oxides. It's used as a finishing powder.

I love Mineral Veil. It sets my make up and knocks down shine. It is also lovely to use before foundation in the summer, especially when it is humid. It is nice for mid-day touch ups, too, as it doesn't build up. I blot any oil, then lightly brush on some Mineral Veil and my face looks nice and fresh, again.

Thanks everyone! So if I am 48 should I still use it or not? I am asking so many questions I know but this is all so new to me!

Curlsgirl, maybe you could get a sample somewhere? With these things, it's hard to say as every skin is different.

You should be able to use Mineral Veil just fine, Curlsgirl. It is very light and fine and translucent and I have never had it build up or make me look powdery or old. Of course, as with anything YMMV.

I'm 46, and I use it. I also use it under eye makeup. It keeps my eyeshadow fresher for longer.

I'm older than you and I use it. It's one of my favorite make up products. It's a lot like a transluscent powder. Bare Minerals makes the product called Mineral Veil. I believe there are other mineral lines that have what they call a "Veil". The BE Mineral Veil is a colorless very fine powder. One of the purposes it to conceal pores which I think it does very well. There is one with a little color for summer. I can't recall the exact name at the moment.
I am constantly changing how I apply my make up and the products I use. My current routine is to do my skin care and apply a primer at the end of that step. I then wait a few minutes and go off and do something for 5-10 minutes. I come back and finish my face. I use concealer around the eyes and cover any ruddiness or zittiness and then kabuki on the Mineral Veil. It really takes care of my nose pores which are a huge issue for me. It takes away the shine and makes my complexion seem more even, even though it's not adding any color. I will warn you that the Mineral Viel uses up the fastest of any of my mineral products. :lafhard:

Carolyn, have you tried the new featherlight mineral veil by BE? It seems to be a bit finer milled, but has some sparkly stuff, which, of course my teen daughter loves. I mix it with the regular veil, and I like the effect.
How long after you moisturize your face do you wait before applying your primer? Or is your primer a liquid? Mine is minerals, and I'm wondering if letting it set before finishing up the application would help get better coverage.

I always forget to put my mineral veil on! When I remember to use it, I agreee that it gives a nice airbrushed look. I have the featherlight mv with the sparkles too but, I only use it as a brow highlighter. It doesn't look right on me. I'll try mixing it with regular mineral veil like Raederle does, that's a great idea.

Great idea! My primer is a liquid. I have one from BE and one from Prescriptives. I haven't decided which one I like best. I apply the primer right after skin care, then I wait a few minutes to put on all the powdery things.

I just realized I have the skin rev-er upper by BE. I'm not sure if I ever used it or not, but there's always tomorrow, right?
