I have no idea where to post this, but just wondering about the PM system, it doesn't appear to be working properly, it doesn't send your new message to people, just sends their old post back to them. Anybody else experiencing this problem? It was making life a bit difficult earlier on today, but luckily I was able to get in touch with friends other ways.

I think the reply button on the right (quick reply) doesn't work yet. Try the reply button on the left.

Thanks Justy, I'm pretty sure I tried both, at different times, it's not just me, also Kris, Muggles, HF101 too. Going both ways, in or out.

LisaJaney and I are having the same problems with our PMs. Lisa said she was talking to Steph about it.

Thanks Clare-Dragonfly. :flower: I hope it won't take too long to fix up. In the meantime, I must go and check out all the rest of this lovely place. :grinhappy:

You too neoma? It's a temporary glitch I hope, well at least we can talk on these threads so we don't go through complete withdrawal. LOL.

I've had pm's from Koala, moonchaser and Hairfitness. This is weird. :rain:

Try replying to them Justy and see what happens. It usually goes smoothly for a new post but after that when you reply to the original, no matter what you do or what button you hit, they mess up.

I haven't heard anything back about it. but want to say that I cannot IMAGINE how busy Steph is, between this site and the tweaking she's doing here (I've seen several threads where she's listening to suggestions and saying "Oh yes, I'll do that", PLUS the major work she's doing at LHC.)
I find myself wondering if we were to erase the previous communications and have ONLY the text we wish to send, would THAT help out in the meantime? Perhaps, if you need to quote the person, just cut-n-paste a few sentences here and there; really chop up that previous correspondence. Maybe that's a way we can honey it into working for us for the time-being?
Anyhow, it's a thought...

Clare,
I got another message from you, but it only had the quoted stuff from before (all 5 or 6 of our attempts) and ONLY the stuff *I* had written, with the exception of your letter-brigade-beginning PM to me in the first place. Are you getting anything from ME? And when you look in your "sent" box, are any of the notes YOU wrote in there? TBear said that her note to me (that was the first time it happened for me today) that even in her "sent" box, it showed like she hadn't written anything.
I'm just making note of this, on the off-chance that it'll help Steph sort it out. I know NOTHING about computers, so am NO help at all, but am good at compiling evidence and making long-arse lists of crap for other people to do (poor Steph.)

I tried that Lisa Janey and it's a no go, however I've been testing with Justy back and forth and have no problems whatsoever, maybe it's just her or maybe it's fixed, don't know.

This is exactly what it'b been doing for at least 10 people that I know of here.

LJ did you get the PM I sent you?
I had a problem with the quick reply button but once I used the other button there was no problem.
When I first saw the title of this thread I thought how can P.M.S. not work right?? :grim:

Moonchaild, that's funny about the PMS, I guess I should have punctuated that somehow. PM's or P M's or something. Not sure what is grammatically correct.

Actually, Lisa, in my first response to you, before the problem started appearing, I had cut out all the quoted material, so my reply should have had nothing but what I wrote--instead, it had just the quotes that I'd erased!
I have 3 PMs from you and 4 to you in my box. They seem to exist, but in several of them there is no new material, just the quoted stuff.
As for the grammar, there are never apostrophes in plurals. Except for the lack of capitalization, the title of this thread is grammatically correct. As "PM" is an acronym, however, it should be "PMs" instead of "pms". (And yes, if anyone is waiting to attack my grammar nazi credentials, I do know that in American grammr the perid should go inside the quotation marks. I'm pretending to be British :lafhard:)

Thanks for the correction and informative post Clare Dragonfly, I hate to make spelling and grammar mistakes and I don't mind being corrected, so I know for the next time. I always look down my nose at people who can't spell, although that just isn't fair because some people can and some just can't, no matter how hard they try. Like some people 'get' math and some don't.
Now I think you're brilliant because you knew all that stuff, duh. :gurn: I always try to remember where the period goes, inside the quotation marks or outside, now I know. :eureka:

Moonchaild! Yes, I got it! Did you get mine? It was along the lines of "thank you, you're a gem, and I'll save it." How's THAT for vague???? ;)
Jessie and I have PM'd (think there's an apostrophe there, as it's replacing the E befor the D, in a past-tense word?) and hers came to me with only my words quoted. She said that she and someone else had PM'd earlier today and had about five good back-n-forth sessions so she figured it was fixed, but now it's all whopptycopter again. Silly thing.
I'm sure none of this info is consoling to poor Steph. She needs a warm blanket and a good book and some slippers. And some wine. Just kick back and relax... :)

LJ I did not get the PM you sent. I LOVE the word whopptycopter. Now I just have to figure out when to work it into a sentence!! I make up expresssions all the time and always get this :boggle: look from people.

I'd call that a contraction, and thus fair use of an apostrophe :grinhappy:

Actually, Lisa, it's very consoling knowing that while I've been working on TLHC, you guys have all been trying to troubleshoot. :D Thank you. I have the quick reply disabled, so let's see if that fixes things.
If you're having problems, my first suggestion is to close your browser, clear your temp files, and try again. Let me know if y'all are still having trouble.
BTW, Lisa...I SEE your signature line. Ahem. I'd appreciate it if you would make that statement BOLD. :lafhard: Cracks me up!

Bwahahahahaha! Just noticed that. :geek:
And to keep this on topic, LJ, in your PM reply to me last night, I only received my original PM to you. :lafhard: I didn't check the time though, it may have been before Steph disabled quick reply.

Well shoot, Jenn, and I have NO idea what brilliant quips I may have made...so those pearls will have to be lost-forever. What a pity! ;)
I will bold the sentiment, Steph. I played it down, as I didn't want to be TOO ornery! My original siggyline was "My avatar has nops. Nops and a banana hammock. Woot!" I may reinstate the whole thing. (I made up the statement while on the phone with TBear and you know how BALLSY you get when you've got a friend there egging you on... NOT to say that TBear and I would EVER kick up trouble, but...well, I'll just let that go, lest you think I protest too much.) I have to say that I have gotten several PMs that say "Your avatar is MOST distracting." I have to concur. It's why I picked it. Well, that and the nops and banana hammock-action. Bwahahahahahahhaha!

Something is wrong with me :ooh:
I read that as 'distracting' and expected some very bright animated avatar. Glanced..no..went back and read it as 'disturbing' and looked and was confused. Went back and realized it was distracting after all :sweatdrop:
Maybe i should have read LJ's reply to the quote =p
