Although I posted in skin care about my bacne, and facial pimples etc. I have very dry skin just about everywhere else on my body (grr!). Anyway, my hands aren't nearly as bad this winter as usual, because I live in Canada, but am studying in Scotland, where the winters are much milder and damper. However, because they are milder, and because I am a student who doesn't like doing laundry, I often wear my Birkenstocks without socks because I run out of socks before I run out of anything else. I'm not even sure if this contributes at all, but my heels are exceedingly cracked. I kind of ignored it for a while, putting on Body Butter (for Very Dry skin that I got over the summer when I was living in pools) when I remembered to (generally every couple of days I would get out of the shower and suddenly notice it) but now it's getting worse, and my heels are itchy and have been bleeding. What can I do to remedy this? Bear in mind that I am a student who has already spent my weekly allowance (I try to limit myself to a certain number of pounds a week) and has something planned (besides pub) for next week's, so I would like to not have to buy anything else if possible.

TIA

I fixed mine by applying Nivea cream every night and morning. I have the one in the dark blue container and it's probably the best all round cream on the market. It costs very little and a bit goes a long way. You can also use it for the undereye area and for your hands and elbows.

Thanks a lot, I'll look into that!

Floren,

Also, before bedtime, try coating some vaseline on the whole foot, and then putting some socks on over it. Perhaps within a week, you will note some drastic improvement. While your heels are healing, try to keep them protected from the outside elements that may dry and irritate them.
