I used this brush this morning and I really liked it.
Questions
Should I not use this brush daily?
It is very soft but can it still break the hair?

I don't know about the daily use, but be sure not to use it to detangle your hair. Always detangle with a regular brush or comb beforehand, otherwise it might cause breakage.

I use my bbb everyday, but I agree with eiyala, you should do your detangling with a comb first, and use the brush to smooth your hair.

I use mine daily also. when I don't my hair doesn't grow. My head needs the stimulation. I have never had breakage from mine.

I agree that scalp stimulation is very important. Unfortunately, using a boar-bristle-brush was far too damaging for my hair. Yes, I was VERY gentle, because I really wanted it to work. It made my length beautiful, but destroyed the ends. Damage was GREATLY reduced when I stopped using it. Now I do scalp massages with my fingers, every morning and evening.
Anyway, different people get different results from brushing. If you are noticing damage, try not using it for a week and see what happens.

I have very fine, classic length hair. I use my BBB everyday but only for brushing my scalp. I never de-tangle with it and only use a comb for that. A BBB is also great for smoothing the top of the hair after oiling. Used correctly, it is a handy tool. Also, I never run the brush all the way out to the ends of my hair.

Cayenne Pepper is also recommended for scalp stimulation instead of a BBB, I've never tried it though.

Would it be a hijack to ask how to "use it correctly". My objective was to bring the oils down to the ends of the hair, never for detangling. If you don't run the brush all the way out to the ends, what do you do to keep the ends "happy"?
Also, what brush do you recommend? I would love to be able to use a BBB again, without causing damage.

I use it daily to smooth top of my hair especially for updos. I only use it on the length when it is getting oily and I can really spread it. If it is too dry I get breakage.

When I brush my scalp, I go over the scalp only and lift the brush off from the rest of my hair. I do this with my head upside down, brushing in toward the center of my head from the hair line. When I stand up again, I use my fingers to gently get the loops of hair straight and then finish with a Madora ivory comb.
I use a Mason Pearson brush.
If I use it (the brush) for polishing, I gently go over the top of my hair after oiling, but I do not whip the brush off the ends of my hair.
Moving very slowly and gently has made the difference. Vigorous brushing certainly may cause damage.
I hope this helps. When the LHC is back up and running, perhaps you could take a peek at my journal. I elaborate more there.

Thank you very much. I look forward to reading more about it in your journal.

I have cut my brush usage to a few times a week. I use a BBB. I think it has been good for my hair to cut down on the brushing. :geek:

I use mine for scalp health too, as it is handy for whisking away scalp debris before it becomes a problem. I used to only use it prior to washing (and upside down as I will then wash upside down), but now I have been using it at least once a day.
I detangle with my Madora comb, then brush the scalp and hair to about ear length, then gently slowly follow down the length with my fingers running behind the brush to prevent static or retangling. After each stroke I run my fingers over the BBB (you'd be amazed at the debris after each stroke!) and this has been helping to cut down on 'dust' and gunk in my BBB. I do this in the bathroom, which is carpetted but gets vacuumed regularly. Sounds gross, but it is working for me!
PS when I do it daily I do it in the upright position!

I use a BBB about once a week, usually on 'dirty' hair. I can't brush or comb upside-down since my hair would just get full of tangles. Before I use a BBB, I seperate my hair into left and right sides, then use a comb to detangle. Without changing how the hair lies, I then follow over with a BBB on each side, gowing slowly from the part in the middle down to the ends. I run my other hand along the hair on the bristle side of the brush to make sure everything is aligned correctly. Then I do the other side (sometimes re-combing before brushing). When I am done with the BBB, I comb my hair again to give it some fluff, as the brush seems to hold the strands in place next to each other when done brushing.
