Since I have been COing, I absolutely LOVE how soft my hair is. However, with only aloe gel to help hold the curls in, I find they are not very defined or consistent, almost too soft (which I thought would NEVER happen!) Anyway, what I am doing is COing with SKR or other flavor Condish, drying CG routine (I have found plopping doesn't work so well for me) then just letting air dry. Oh yeah I use FOTE aloe gel and a little jojoba throughout and crunch briefly before leaving alone. Is there something I can do to encourage the curls to separate and hold a little that is coneless? Thanks for any help! :lafhard:

it sounds like your curls might be over conditioned, I had that same problem when I first started to CO. You might try doing a water only rinse in between or maybe even a CWC (condition the length, shampoo (wash) the scalp and then condition overall ) as a once in a while alternative to CO only.

Also you might need a stronger hold gel. I personally use Rocking ringlets and Confident coils from Jessicurl. http://www.jessicurl.com/ Ireally like that combo it works for me. Another ge to try is Aura Hypo gel from Sally's Beauty supply or AG: recoil both are a bit stronger of a hold gel and don't have cone in them. Hope that helps

I did do a CWC the other day but I think I like COing better. It made my hair dry again. Funny you should mention the aura gel. I saw that on the Snowy's thread and decided to pick some up at lunch. I hate ordering stuff online since you have to pay shipping and it is more expensive and I waste so many products :purplex: plus I am sort of cheap :lafhard: I hope the aura gel helps. Can't wait to try it! Thanks!

You should have good luck with Aura gel. You can also try Volumax gel and Biotera gel (both also from Sally's and also silicone free). I think your curls are wilting b/c they need something that has a holding polymer in it. As a loose 3a myself, my curls don't have enough 'natural' boing to do it on their own and shaped only with aloe. They definitely need a gel with some hold. Good luck! :D

Hi curlsgirl :innocent:

I have nothing really useful to add here, except to say that since I started using henna, COing, oiling, and generally taking good care of my hair..my curls are not what they used to be.

I preferred my hair a little curlier, but I'll take the awesome softness of my hair now over curls any day. :soppy:

I hope you find a good gel that works and peps them up.....when you do, let me know too!!:eureka:

Thanks Meezer and Rini! Glad to see you all over here! I think we all have hair a lot alike! My hair does seem not to be quite as curly but MUCH softer and healthier looking. I do definitely prefer that to curly frizz! I did get the Aura gel and I really like it. It will probably take a little getting used to to find out how much is the right amount but though my hair is not much curlier this morning, it looks shiny and nice. Thanks for the other recommendations too! :lafhard:
